    It is staying dry but fairly cloudy into this evening.

    A cold and frosty night with lows of -3C (27F) in rural areas and there will be some icy patches where the snow has melted.

  3. Fullarton praised for changes to sidepublished at 17:41

    Notts County manager Jamie Fullarton had his first win at Crawley over the weekend and he's been praised by former striker Mark Stallard for making important changes to the side.

    Fullarton's first win in charge ended in a winless run away from home which stretches back to August.

    It was also the first clean sheet for the Magpies since October, and Stallard says he has been impressed with the new manager's work so far.

  4. Jimmy Savile scandal sparked teacher abuse complaintpublished at 17:34

    The former schoolgirl, who cannot be named, told Nottingham Crown Court the Jimmy Savile scandal was a factor in her going to the police in December 2012, which started the investigation into Roger Caffrey.

    "I'd had quite a lot of nightmares...it had got to the point where I couldn't take anymore," she said.

    "At the time there were the Jimmy Savile cases wherever you looked - it was a constant reminder of everything."

    Mr Caffrey denies three counts of rape and 14 indecent assaults in Nottingham dating between 1978 and 1995.

  5. Schoolgirl 'raped six times' by teacherpublished at 17:21

    A schoolgirl was raped six times by a former deputy head teacher, Nottingham Crown Court has heard.

    Roger Caffrey, 70, is charged with three counts of rape and 14 indecent assaults in Nottingham dating between 1978 and 1995.

    Sixteen of the 17 charges involve girls under the age of 16 - some believed to be as young as nine.

    Caffrey, who worked at Northgate Primary School in the city until 1984, denies all the charges.

    The praise for Broad after his performance in South Africa continues.

    He has become the first England player for 11 years to be named as the International Cricket Council's number one bowler in the world.

    Steve Harmison was the last England bowler to top the ICC rankings in 2004 and he kept the top spot for 120 days.

  7. Other city buildings targeted by protesterspublished at 16:44

    Protesters who wrote graffiti on Nottingham's Council House in chalk, also wrote on Nottingham Magistrates' Court and St Peter's Church in St Peter's Gate in the city centre.

    It has all now been removed but a spokeswoman for the city's Community Protection team said: "This is unacceptable behaviour and constitutes criminal damage to public buildings."

    England's victory in the third Test against South Africa in Johannesburg was quite remarkable - and the catalyst for it all was Stuart Broad.

    It wasn't just his deliveries that took wickets that were dangerous - some were flying past the nose, others were crashing into flesh.

    These spells that Broad bowls - The Oval in 2009, Chester-le-Street in 2013, Trent Bridge in 2015 and now here - are symptomatic of his character. If your team is in a situation where someone needs to stand up and be counted, then Broad wants to be that man.

  10. Persistent Nottingham beggar jailedpublished at 15:44

    A persistent beggar frequently seen on the streets of Nottingham has been jailed for nine months after breaching an earlier order to curb his behaviour.

    Peter James Biggins, 32, of Framework Housing, London Road, Nottingham, was sentenced last week at Nottingham Magistrates' Court, for numerous offences including breaches of his Anti-Social Behaviour Order, vagrancy offences and outraging public decency.

  11. Council director criticises Council House protesterspublished at 15:11

    The head of Nottingham's Community Protection team has strongly criticised protesters who daubed messages on the Nottingham Council House and city council's headquarters, Loxley House, this weekend.

    On Twitter, Andrew Errington called it "mindless defacing" by "anarchists".

    The group, which is a partnership between police and the city council has distributed photos of nine people , externalwho were allegedly involved in writing anti-homelessness messages in chalk over the buildings.

    Two men arrested by police in the Old Market Square on Saturday were released without charge.

  12. Man wanted over Basford cash robberypublished at 14:59

    Police have released this CCTV photo of a man they want to speak to about a robbery at an Aldi supermarket in Basford where a large amount of cash was stolen., external

    The robbery happened some time ago - on 21 December - but police have only just told us about it.

    Three people have been arrested in connection with the robbery but no-one has yet been charged.

  13. Gulf War 25 years onpublished at 14:41

    Malcolm Janes, 72, served for 22 years with the Royal Medical Corps and volunteered to go to the Gulf War which began 25 years ago.

    "I knew the risks but I had been trained to do a job and that was it," said Malcolm who now volunteers in Wollaton.

    "It wasn't an easy Christmas. We sat as a family having dinner and all I could think about was heading off to training on 2 January before being sent out."

  14. Travel: A17 lorry fire now outpublished at 14:27

    Nottinghamshire Fire and Rescue say the lorry fire on the A17 in Winthorpe is now out.

    The lorry had been carrying 27 tonnes of sugar beet.

    The road has now reopened but traffic is still moving slowly in the area.

    At one point there was a doubt whether Sophie Bradley would play again for Notts County ladies, but 18 months and three operations later a broken stationary bike is testament to how determined she was to return.

    The 26-year-old England defender will be in the gym today with the rest of the team for their first pre-season training session of the year.

    After getting the all-clear, doctors advised her to take a break over the festive period but she declined and says she has "been in pre-season for months".

    It's been 25 years since the beginning of the conflict and the Royal British Legion says more help is still needed for the thousands of soldiers still suffering with chronic headaches, fatigue and memory problems.

  17. Derelict tower block to be transformedpublished at 13:36

    This tower block in Sneinton has been described as "an eyesore" and has been empty for almost 10 years since it was sold by the city council.

    Private investors failed to develop Burrows Court but now the 20 storey building could be transformed into flats, offices and shops. 

    Plans will be submitted to the council later this month.
