    After a wet evening with some further heavy and persistent rain, it will turn drier overnight but with further scattered showers in places. 

    Despite this, in any clearer spells it will turn colder than of late. Maximum temperature: 10C (50F).

  3. Pregnant sheep 'butchered' in Dentonpublished at 17:25

    Two pregnant sheep were killed and stripped of their meat in a field in Denton, sometime between Monday evening and Tuesday morning.

    It's the latest incident of its type in Denton or Brafield-on-the-Green, where such butchery has happened several times over the past 18 months.

    Northamptonshire Police are asking you to contact them if you see suspicious vehicle activity in the area, or are offered cheap meat not from a butchers.

    After Northamptonshire Police confirmed it won't be prosecuting any motorists caught making a U-turn on the M1 near Crick, you've been having your say on BBC Radio Northampton's Facebook page, external.

    Jamie Davison said: "Ban them for life from driving ANY motor vehicle on British roads, Then fine £20,000 for their stupidity."

    Jane Savage wrote about the police: "They just can't be bothered, they have no time for criminal acts, too much paperwork."

    Linda Flynn added: "They could zoom in and see that van number for a start... in fact, all the numbers."

    Despite a poor run of form which included losing to the Premiership's bottom club, London Irish, on Boxing Day, Northampton Saints' forwards coach Dorian West says the side remains united.

  7. Motorcyclist dies in Northamptonshire villagepublished at 15:20

    A 57-year-old Kettering man has died from his injuries after losing control of his motorbike and leaving the road in the village of Grendon.

    Northamptonshire Police say he was one of four motorcyclists riding through the village, external towards Wollaston, just before 14:00 yesterday.

    Northamptonshire Police should have prosecuted drivers filmed performing U-turns on the M1, according to Brake.

    Alice Bailey, from the road safety charity, said the decision not to do so is "shocking".

  11. Car rammed and cash stolen at Beckworth Emporiumpublished at 13:20

    A member of staff at Beckworth Emporium, a garden centre and food court near Wellingborough, has been left badly shaken by thieves.

    The staff member was locking up just before 19:00 on Monday. Three men rammed his car, then marched him into the office, before stealing cash.

    The three men were stocky and spoke with Northampton or Leicester accents. Northamptonshire Police are appealing for information.

    Another year, another 12 months of social media mishaps - and no such list would be complete without an appearance from former Corby MP Louise Mensch.

    She lit up the Twittersphere when she accused supporters of Labour leader Jeremy Corbyn of being anti-Semitic.

    But when she posted a picture of her Twitter search bar with what she claimed were auto-completed phrases - giving an indication of what people are talking about - it was quickly pointed out the image revealed her own search history.

    She later admitted the error, but stood by her accusations.

    The decision by Northamptonshire Police not to prosecute any of the drivers caught on film doing U-turns on the M1 at Crick to avoid a serious accident was revealed via a BBC Freedom of Information Act request.

    When questioned, PC Dave Lee, of Northamptonshire Police Safer Roads Team, said the CCTV "is not clear enough to read the number plates of most of the vehicles involved and so we have been unable to trace the owners and take the action we would like to".

    A coach driver spoken to at the time of the incident resigned shortly afterwards.

    Road safety charity Brake said drivers who were filmed doing U-turns on the M1 to avoid a serious accident "seem to have got away" with their "risky behaviour".

    Brake spokesman Dave Nichols said the "selfish drivers" put their lives and other people's at risk.

    "They seem to have got away with their risky behaviour, despite it being caught on film," he said.

    CCTV footage was released showing a succession of vehicles, including a coach, making the manoeuvres near Crick in July.

    Northamptonshire Police were unable to trace the vehicles, but said the footage had highlighted "selfish" driving.
