A tractor driver has been treated for head and leg injuries after his vehicle collided with a bridge.

Emergency services attended the incident on the B1135, near Wicklewood, which happened shortly after 11:15, as seen here in this picture from Diane Jermany.

A spokesman for the ambulance service says the trailer, which was carrying seeds, became vertical, making contact with the bridge. The impact caused the tractor driver to suffer a head injury, chest pains and a suspected ankle fracture. 

The man was taken by land ambulance to the Norfolk and Norwich University Hospital and is believed to be in a stable condition.

Many thanks to aerial photographer Mike Page for his video, showing the latest stage of construction work for the Northern Distributor Road, external (NDR) around Norwich.

The 20km (12.4 mile) dual carriageway will run from the A1067, north of Taverham, and join the A47 east of Norwich at Postwick.

It's hoped the road may be open by the end of 2017.

An RAF Marham serviceman, who was the victim of an attempted abduction, is still off work and receiving support as he comes to terms with his "traumatic ordeal", according to Norfolk Police.

It's now a month since the man, who's in his 20s, was approached and threatened with a knife by two men while jogging on Squires Hill. He fought them off and escaped unharmed.

The two men, said to be of Middle Eastern appearance, drove off in a dark coloured people carrier.

A 60-strong team of detectives, 50 from the Norfolk and Suffolk Major Investigation Team and 10 from the Metropolitan Police Service Counter Terrorism Command, are working on the case. 

Police are appealing for anyone who was driving in Marham on the day of the incident, Wednesday 20 July, to come forward.

The future of a seaside festival is in doubt after the main organiser has announced he's to step down.

The Mundesley Festival, external, which started more than 30 years ago, has featured top acts such as Acker Bilk and the Brotherhood of Man.

But this could be its last year, as no-one has come forward to replace 82-year-old Derek Kirk.

A 24-hour "Twitterthon" by the East of England Ambulance Service, external is a chance to have a look at the work our emergency crews handle throughout the day and night.

Shortly after this tweet (above), a fourth person had been picked up and the ambulance was heading to the James Paget University Hospital for their appointments. 

A tractor driver has been taken to hospital after he crashed his vehicle into a railway bridge.

The tractor, which was towing a 14-tonne trailer, hit the bridge on the road between Wymondham and Wicklewood.

The incident happened shortly after 11:00. Highways officers remain on the scene, clearing up a diesel spillage.

A high demand for A&E services has led to the James Paget University Hospital, external in Gorleston asking patients to consider whether their condition is a genuine emergency.

The hospital, which serves part of Norfolk and north Suffolk, says A&E attendances have risen significantly compared to last year, with several peaks in demand - the latest occurred overnight on 18-19 August.

Evenings and weekends are busy times, and patients with less serious conditions should expect to wait as cases are dealt with in priority order, the hospital said.

It said other options are available, including visiting a pharmacist, ringing 111 for advice, and attending a minor injuries unit such as the one at Beccles Hospital, external. The Greyfriars Health Centre, external in Great Yarmouth is open seven days a week, between 08:00 and 20:00.

Two rival football supporters are joining forces on Sunday - and having their heads shaved during half-time at Portman Road - to raise money for charity.

Beth Howman, a Norwich City season ticket holder, said she is looking forward to it: "I've never had short hair particularly so can try out new styles and I've got a few hats for when I'm completely bald, so it should be all right."

But Ipswich supporter, Katie Boothe, isn't quite so sure: "I am terrified, I'm just going to try not to cry I think. It's a lot of people to do it in front of."

The Norwich University of the Arts, external (NUA) is to host a discussion about the implications of Brexit for businesses in the creative sector.

The sector is worth £84.1bn a year, employing one in 11 people in the UK, according to the Department of Culture, Media and Sport. 

Sarah Steed, director of business at NUA, says the UK's creative industries grew by 8.9% in 2014, nearly twice as quickly as the UK economy as a whole. She said the discussion would help creative businesses to understand how to turn Brexit to their advantage.

The meeting, run by the Creative Industries Federation, external, will take place on 31 August. 

Police are asking anyone who witnessed a crash on the A149 at King's Lynn between two vehicles on Wednesday to contact them.

Two women died in the incident, which happened shortly after 17:00, near to the junction with Castle Rising Road. A blue Peugeot 107 and a blue Vauxhall Astra were involved. 

The driver of the Peugeot - a woman in her 70s - died at the scene. Her passenger - a woman in her 80s - was taken to the Queen Elizabeth Hospital but died later.

The driver of the Vauxhall - a man in his late 40s - suffered serious injuries and was also taken to hospital, where he remains in a stable condition.

A man pleads not guilty to the murder of a couple from Suffolk.

Families, friends and colleagues from RAF Marham joined personnel from 31 Squadron at a service in Holy Trinity Church, Marham, to mark the laying up of the Standard of 31 Squadron.

The owners of a missing bird say they're hoping visitors to the Broads can keep an eye out for it.

Lawrence is a rhea, a bird which can grow up to 170cm (67in) tall and run at speeds up to 40mph (64kph). It escaped three days ago from owner Ashely Bullard's garden at Norton Subcourse, near Reedham.

The vehicle has still not been found, but the officer leading the investigation into the attempted kidnap says this doesn't mean the car has not been abandoned, but could be somewhere that they've not yet come across.

Det Supt Paul Durham, of the Norfolk and Suffolk Major Investigation Team, says there's a wide area that the vehicle could have driven from. They're continuing to view more than 50 hours of CCTV footage.
