  1. Flood-hit county braced for further downpourspublished at 08:02 BST 19 June 2019

Emergency planners in Lincolnshire say residents in parts of the county still need to be prepared as heavy rain and more possible flooding is expected.

Thunderstorms which were forecast for overnight didn't materialise but there's still a weather warning in place for heavy downpours today.

Assistant Police Chief Constable Shaun West says they're expecting more challenging weather conditions.

It follows almost a week of rain and flooding disruption for people in the county - particularly in the Wainfleet area.

The Environment Agency have said there hasn't been a second breach of the River Steeping following reports of a crack forming next to the initial breach. They say it's just superficial erosion and are monitoring the area closely.

  3. Hotel faces licence suspension following police concernspublished at 17:53 BST 18 June 2019

A hotel in Alford could have its licence suspended following a string of incidents, including assaults.

    The hotel

According to the Local Democracy Reporting Service, East Lindsey district councillors have reduced the opening hours at the Windmill Hotel to 23:00, applied tougher controls over door supervisors and issued a strict warning.

The pub has also been banned from serving glass drink containers in the bar, pool or garden – restricting them to the restaurant area only.

Earlier, councillors were told of reported incidents at the hotel going back to 2016, including assaults by unlicensed door staff and a lack of door supervision.

Lincolnshire Police had called for the licence review, raising concerns over CCTV, staff training and incident or refusals logs.

The business now has 21 days to appeal against the councillors' decision. If it does not, the suspension will come into effect in July.

    St Peter's Passage

Gates will finally be installed on either side of St Peter's Passage after City of Lincoln Council gave the go-ahead.

The council has approved plans to close off the “intimidating” Lincoln passageway after officials said they wanted to break the cycle of anti-social behaviour.

The authority said “significant pressure” had come from local firms to tackle the issue.

Others said the area was often used for drug use and that human faeces have had to be cleared by staff from firms in the area.

The historic passageway, which connects Mint Lane with the High Street, will be gated for three years.

East Lindsey District Council secured £50,000 from the government's Coastal Revival Fund which will be used to resurface the footpaths, replace a footbridge and improve lighting on the Southern Foreshore.

The council will provide the remainder of the funding and work should be completed by mid-July.

    Quote Message

It's been clear for some time that the area was in need of investment, so it's great to see the works about to start and I'm looking forward to what the gardens will look like once it's finished. Rockery Gardens is the starting point for some great projects that will be taking place in Skegness over the coming months."

Councillor Steve Kirk, East Lindsey District Council

The wardens cover towns and villages across the whole of South Holland where residents have reported issues.

They have taken enforcement action against those committing public space offences, including the dropping of cigarette butts and other litter, failing to stop drinking alcohol when requested and spitting on the ground, the council says.

Details of anyone given warnings or fines are recorded and fed back to the community safety and enforcement team, to allow re-offending to be monitored.

The wardens are reaching the end of their first year patrolling the district, during which they have interacted with thousands of local groups and residents, according to South Holland District Council.

    Quote Message

The wardens have played an important role in tackling some of the anti-social behaviour issues in the district, primarily around littering and the negative effect it has on our surroundings."

According to the Local Democracy Reporting Service, those attending Healthy Conversation events on the shape of the health service in county were originally asked to sign a Non Disclosure Agreement so as not to pass on information after taking part in the 'workshops'.

Campaigners blasted the order as “secretive” and “an insult to democracy”.

But a spokesman for Lincolnshire Sustainability Transformation Partnership said it had now decided to relax the rules, though participants will still need to protect the names of people who have spoken at events.

The next workshop is due to take place in Grantham tomorrow (Wednesday).

    Quote Message

What is 'healthy' in any engagement with the public, about threatening no entry unless one agrees to a restrictive NDA? It is grossly unfair, undemocratic and totally restrictive and must be challenged.”

    Philip Bosworth, Health campaigner
