    Cleethorpes is on the shortlist for the Great British High Street, external competition.

    The resort is one of 27 finalists who now have the chance to battle it out in a public vote to be crowned Britain's best. 

    Now in its third year, high streets can win up to £10,000 each for the local community.

    Grantham and Stamford MP Nick Boles threatened to leave the BBC's Daily Politics after he was questioned over his role in Michael Gove's bid for the Tory leadership.

    The host Jo Coburn asked Mr Boles about an email he wrote asking fellow MPs to "thwart Andrea Leadsom" but he refused to talk about it.

  6. Plans for new lakeside houses near Scunthorpe go on showpublished at 16:40 BST 18 October 2016

    Plans for the first of five lakes in a £1.2bn housing scheme have gone on public display.

    The £2m pond is part of the Lincolnshire Lakes project near Scunthorpe that will see the building of 6,000 new homes and a business park.

    The site will also incorporate a new 12,000 seat stadium and training facilities for Scunthorpe United.

    Planning approval for the first phase was granted in July and work is expected to start in early 2017.

    As well as being used for water sports, the lakes will form part of the flood defences and drainage plan for the development.

    Concerns over the project had been raised by the local Conservative MP Andrew Percy as the site is located on a flood plain.

    The development is expected to be completed by 2028.

    A convicted murderer who sparked a manhunt after walking out of North Sea Camp Open Prison near Boston has been given a six month jail sentence. 

    Stuart Brownhill, who's 59, and from Manchester, pleaded guilty to a charge of escape at Lincoln Crown Court.

    Police launched a search for Stuart Brownhill, 59, after he was noticed missing from a 05:00 BST roll call on 16 September.

    Judge Simon Hirst told him his sentence will run concurrent with his life term.

  10. WATCH: First look at Bomber Command Centre singlepublished at 15:46 BST 18 October 2016

    This song has been written and recorded to raise money for the International Bomber Command Centre on the outskirts of Lincoln.

    It's hoped it will raise thousands of pounds for a new visitor centre to be built on the site at Canwick - where a memorial spire to World War Two aircrew already stands.

    The song's called Tears of the World and will be available to download from iTunes.

    There's a new study which shows that fewer than half of grammar schools across the country make deliberate efforts to admit children from very low income backgrounds.

    Lincolnshire's one of the areas of the country with a high number of selective schools.

    An inspection by the Care Quality Commission has found problems continue at The Crossroads Medical Practice in North Hykeham. 

    It's found the quality of care to be inadequate and the practice needs to be more caring, effective and responsive.

    Det Ch Insp Martin Holvey said: "This case was distressing for the families involved, for Katie's school friends and for Elizabeth's colleagues, friends and the children at the school where she worked as well as having a shocking impact on the wider community of Spalding.

    "What makes this case even more shocking is that these two were just 14 when they planned and committed these callous, senseless and unprovoked attacks on Elizabeth and Katie."

    We've just been hearing from the detective in charge of the investigation into the murders of Liz and Katie Edwards in Spalding.

    Det Ch Insp Martin Holvey of Lincolnshire Police described the killings as: "callous, senseless and unprovoked" in a statement on the steps of Nottingham Crown Court in the last few minutes.

    He says the crimes have left "a number of lives in ruins".

    Mr Justice Haddon-Cave adjourned sentence on both defendants until next month and will also rule on whether or not they should be identified at a later hearing. 

    After ordering a pre-sentence report to be prepared on the girl, the judge told counsel: "I express the court's gratitude for the exemplary way in which this case has been conducted. "
