A man knocked 78-year-old woman's head on a kerb as she lay on the ground while he attempted to rob her in Bradford.
Image source, GoogleIt happened on Saturday lunchtime in Wibsey as the woman was going home on Henderson Place.
She was grabbed from behind and thrown to the ground as her attacker tried to grab her bag. He then knocked her head against the kerb to try to make her let go of her belongings.
He was disturbed by passer-by and ran off empty handed. Police say he is a white man, 5ft 10”, of medium build, with short brown hair.
He was wearing a grey hooded tracksuit with black stripes down the leg.

A total of 50 hot air balloons, from all across the UK, will fly across York, while a festival-style weekend takes place below.
The inflated display will lift of from York racecourse in the final weekend of September.

It is thought she might be with an Asian female of similar age and she has connections to the Halifax area.
A pet weasel belonging to a Yorkshire wildlife artist is to represent Britain in a documentary about the super powers of the world’s smallest animals.
Wildlife artist Robert Fuller discovered four-week old Fidget in York in 2016.
He set up a series of runs and mazes for him at his studio in Thixendale on the Yorkshire Wolds.
Now Fidget's appearing in the BBC's Super Small Animals.

Police in Leeds are asking for witnesses to come forward after a gun was fired and a car hijacked at the weekend.
Image source, GoogleIt happened on Saturday afternoon on Spencer Place in Chapeltown, after an argument between a group of men. One of them is believed to have been carrying a small handgun.
The gun went off and damaged a nearby ground floor flat window.
The group then ran off to the rear of Harehills Avenue where they threatened a man and drove off in his black Honda Civic.
The car was later found abandoned on Oakwell Crescent, from where it's thought the suspects left in another car.

Do you know this man? Police in Rotherham want to speak to him after a 70-year-old woman was robbed in her own car as she waited at traffic lights:
Image source, South Yorkshire PoliceLast Tuesday lunchtime the woman had stopped at lights on Centenary Way, when a man knocked on her window and opened the passenger door.
He reached in and grabbed her handbag before running off.
The 70-year-old was not hurt during the incident but was left distressed.
New signs are being put up on the North Yorkshire coast warning people not to feed seagulls.
Over the last few years Scarborough Borough Council has tried various methods to try to stop herring gulls attacking people while they're eating.

Shoppers were evacuated from a Leeds city centre department store this afternoon:

West Yorkshire Fire and Rescue sent two fire engines to the Debenhams store on Briggate at about 15:00.
No fire was discovered however.

A world record breaking gathering of princesses took place in Wakefield yesterday:

The Guinness World Record for the largest gathering of people dressed as a princess stood at 419, but 433 people came along to beat the previous record.

A calf has died after it was shot at a Doncaster farm yesterday while the family were out harvesting.
The four-month-old heifer was in a barn in the middle of the yard at Parks Farm, Conisbrough, when an intruder shot it with a gun once in the front and again in the back.
A vet was called but the calf could not be saved and it died overnight.
Farmer Billy Collins said he was devastated at the cruel shooting.
Scientists at the University of York are testing emissions from cars to see if they match the levels claimed by manufacturers.
