    A man's been hit in the face several times in an attack in Crewe.

    Cheshire Police say the 21-year-old victim, from Sheffield, was walking over Earle Street on Tuesday morning when an unknown man came up behind him.

    After he grabbed and assaulted him, officers say the attacker fled towards Grand Junction Retail Park, leaving the victim without serious injuries but "extremely shocked".

    There'll be no Illuminating York Festival this year as Make It York announces plans for it to be part of a new International Media Arts Festival called York Mediale which is being planned for October 2018.

    Steve Brown who's in charge of Make It York says York Mediale will take place every two years.

    It will aim to be a celebration and showcase York's UNESCO City of Media Arts accreditation - illuminating York will be one of the key highlights.

  8. Kerbside sex pest hunted by policepublished at 17:23 BST 29 March 2017

    A driver who demanded sex from a pedestrian is being hunted by police in North Yorkshire.

    The driver of the dark blue Vauxhall Astra pulled up alongside the woman before asking where she was going, demanding she get in the car and saying that he wanted to have sex with her.

    After the incident, on Tennent Road in Acomb on Tuesday morning, the woman ran away.

    However the driver followed her and approached her again - only leaving when a member of the public intervened.

    The suspect is described as in his 30s with stocky shoulders, of medium build with olive skin and facial stubble.

    He is described as having a Yorkshire accent and was wearing a black t-shirt with writing on it and a dark coloured cap in army colours.

    Police are appealing for anyone who sees a missing Leeds teenager to get in contact.

    Fifteen-year-old Charna Plant was last seen at 12:20 on Monday 27 March at her home on Lea Farm Walk, Kirkstall.

    She is described as 5ft tall, of a medium build with very long red hair. When last seen was wearing a black jacket, blue jeans and grey trainers.

    There has been a crackdown on illegal motorbikes and quad bikes in Doncaster.

    People in the town have made numerous complaints about dangerous riding and the damage caused by riders.

    Now the Safer Stronger Doncaster Partnership has bought dedicated off road motorcycles to be used by police.

    A knifeman has robbed a Police Community Support Officer (PCSO) of his bike at knifepoint today.

    Around 15:00 the officer was on Crombie Avenue in York when the man stole the cycle.

    The robber, who made off towards Wigginton Road, was wearing dark clothing and police are currently carrying out searches of the area.

    The incident happened on Crombie Avenue in York and the suspect was last seen on Wigginton Road.

    He was wearing dark clothing and officers are carrying out searches of the area to locate him.

    A reward of £10,000 is being offered in a new bid to find out who murdered a man in Bradford last summer.

    Crimestoppers is putting up the money as part of the hunt for those responsible for the death of 21-year-old Beyake Keita-Ann.

    He died three weeks after he was injured in Attock Park in Bradford on the evening of 23 August.

    Police said he had gone to the park in the Laisterdyke area to play football, but an argument started and players were attacked.

    Speaking last year, Det Ch Insp Ian Scott, who is leading the murder investigation, said: "Beyake was sat to the side of the pitch, not involved in this disorder in any shape or form."

    "He was brutally attacked, being struck around the head causing fatal injuries."

    Crimestoppers says the money will be on offer for the next three months.

    A Henry Moore sculpture which has been seen by hundreds of thousands of Yorkshire art lovers is to go home - after 20 years.

    The sculpture 'Draped Seated Woman', which was known locally as 'Old Flo' in Stepney where it stood for 30 years, has enjoyed pride of place at the Yorkshire Sculpture Park in West Yorkshire, for the last two decades, but it will now be returning to London.

    Draped Seated Woman was moved from a council estate in east London on loan to Yorkshire Sculpture Park in 1997.

    In 2012 Tower Hamlets Council decided against selling the piece after strong criticism.

    Yorkshire Sculpture Park said it was "working closely with Tower Hamlets, following [current] Mayor John Biggs' manifesto pledge to return the sculpture to London".

    Detectives investigating the murder of Jordan Hill have announced that they've made two additional arrests over his death.

    A 31-year-old man and a 24-year-old woman have both been arrested on suspicion of murder and are currently in police custody.

    The 29-year-old man arrested on Tuesday on suspicion of murder also remains in police custody.

    Emergency services were called to a flat on Southey Avenue, Sheffield at about 21:45 last Thursday following reports that a man was injured.

    He was immediately taken to hospital, but died as a result of his injuries which a post-mortem examination concluded were stab wounds.

    The owners of a York care home where an elderly resident died after jumping from an upstairs window have been found guilty of failing to asses the risks she faced . Dora Strickland took her own life at Red Lodge in 2011.

    The trial at York Crown Court heard that she told staff she was depressed and wanted to kill herself only weeks before. Her son in law is David Parker.

    The home is owned by the Joseph Rowntree Housing Trust (JRHT), which was found not guilty of failing to protect the safety of residents.

    Campbell Robb, chief executive of (JRHT), said they were saddened by Mrs Strickland's death.

    He added: “Since 2011, we have implemented a robust risk assessment relating to windows in our care homes and will learn any lessons from this case to ensure we continue to put residents and their safety and wellbeing at the heart of what we do."

    Sentencing will take place tomorrow.

    The High Court's been told a statement by the former chief constable of South Yorkshire Police in the aftermath of the Hillsborough inquest verdict made his position "untenable".

    David Crompton is taking court action against the decision by the Police and Crime Commissioner Alan Billings that he was "required to resign".

    Today, defending the decision, Mr Billings' lawyers said Mr Crompton's statement made it inevitable that he would have to go, due to the harm caused to the force.

    The case continues.

    The Highways Agency have just tweeted about delays on the southbound side of the M1 near Wakefield in West Yorkshire due to a lane being closed following a collision.

    They're on the scene dealing with it but queues continue in that stretch on that carriageway.

    The northbound side is unaffected.
