With Hull Fair now under way, just a reminder that some roads in the city centre will be closed for the duration:

• Walton Street in Hull is closed until 12:00 on Sunday 15 October

• Lowther Street/Sleights Close up to Walton Street is closed until 12:00 on Sunday 15 October
• Walliker St, from Anlaby Rd to Carnegie St, is closed between 16:30 and 23:00 every day

Leigh have signed back-row forward Jordan Thompson from Hull FC on a two-year contract.

The 26-year-old has spent four seasons with Hull and won two Challenge Cups with the Black and Whites.

"I have monitored Jordan closely for a number of years and he has played a lot of games for a top four club," Leigh coach Neil Jukes told the club website.

The Lord Mayor of Kingston upon Hull and Admiral of the Humber, Councillor John Hewitt, has officially opened Hull Fair for 2017. Can you smell the candy floss yet?

The Fair, which has been running for over 700 years, is one of the oldest in Europe, and hundreds of thousands of people are expected to visit for the famous rides, games and food.

It will be in place at Walton Street car park until Saturday 14 October.

Groups of teenagers in hoodies are causing chaos in a busy area of north Hull, according to people in the affected area.

People living around Newland Avenue and Chanterlands Avenue say youths on bikes are riding through the streets with baseball bats, damaging cars and intimidating residents.

They say the problems have been going on for months with no sign of it stopping soon.

Insp Craig Matthinson, who's responsible for community policing in the area, says Humberside Police has asked local residents to make officers aware of any concerns or suspicious activity.

A memorial to 935 patients buried in unmarked graves at a former East Yorkshire mental hospital has been unveiled.

They were interred in paupers' graves near Broadgate Hospital, in Beverley, which closed in 1989.

East Riding of Yorkshire Council said it installed a headstone, information board and planted trees around the graves in Queensgate Cemetery "as a mark of respect and remembrance".

A service of dedication was held at the nearby St Mary's Church.

All the men and women were buried between 1911 and 1980 in a section of the cemetery known as the Broadgate Compartment.

They were laid to rest in unmarked graves because they were "unclaimed by their families and did not receive a proper funeral", the council said.

People in care homes across East Yorkshire could be getting some very special visitors.

Jess McCann wants to take her three pet sheep around old people's homes to cheer up the residents.

She's been explaining more about the idea:

Hull's three MPs are meeting with head teachers today to discuss the Conservative Party’s proposed new National Funding Formula for schools.

Emma Hardy, Diana Johnson and Karl Turner say the proposals could mean the hardest-hit schools in the area would lose £573 funding per pupil.

The Hull MPs plan to send a joint submission to the Chancellor of the Exchequer in advance of his budget statement to Parliament later this year:

A new campaign's been launched to encourage more people to volunteer to work for Lincolnshire Police.

There are currently about 530 people who give their time and expertise to Lincolnshire Police for free, but a new campaign's asking more people to come forward to volunteer to help their local force.

Roles include Special Constables, cadets and volunteer PCSOs.

Jackie Rowe, Lincolnshire Police's Volunteer Coordinator, says volunteers play an important part and denies accusations from the local Police Federation that the force has become overreliant on them:

A Conservative MP from East Yorkshire has thrown his weight behind Theresa May amid reports of a plot to replace her.

Former party chairman Grant Shapps says about 30 Tory MPs, including five ex-cabinet ministers, back his call for a leadership contest.

But Beverley and Holderness MP Graham Stuart (pictured) has told BBC Look North that the Prime Minister is "fully backed by the party".

A Member of the European Parliament says Hull's proposed cruise ship terminal should be built in the the derelict former fishing docks at St Andrew's Quay and not near houses on Victoria Dock.

Yorkshire and Humber MEP Mike Hookem has written to city councillors.

He says the council's current favoured location at Sammy's Point, close to the city centre, was "unsuitable for a wide range of reasons".

Hull's popular Street Food Nights will return to the city this Christmas, it's been announced.

Thousands of people visited the series of events in Trinity Square and Zebedee's Yard over the summer - with food and drink producers attending from across the region.

The new nights will be held on 14 and 15 December, organisers have confirmed.

Walking along the banks of the Humber can be really lovely, especially on a crisp, sunny day like today, but it seems a certain section of the path needs a bit of attention.

The walkway between the Marina and St Andrews Quay (pictured) has been neglected and underused for years and is now set for a sprucing-up in time for next spring, a councillor has promised.

Labour councillor for the Myton ward, Colin Inglis, says there's £50,000 left in the ward budget this year and some of that will go towards relaying sections, improving lighting, installing seats and creating visitor information boards.

A petition to call the new Hull Venue - which is still under construction - the Mick Ronson Arena has so far attracted over 1,100 signatures.

The petition was started by Dan Little, who says he thinks it would be a great way to remember the legendary Spiders from Mars guitarist in his home city.

Ronson led the Spiders, David Bowie's backing band, in the 1970s. He also recorded several solo albums, the most successful of which was Slaughter on 10th Avenue, which reached number nine in the UK album chart.

He died in 1993, aged 46, after developing liver cancer.

The proposed name has also received support from Ronson's daughter, Lisa, and singer Steve Harley.

A plaque is being unveiled today in memory of more than 900 people who were buried in unmarked graves in Beverley.

They were all patients at the town's former Broadgate mental hospital, which was originally known as the East Riding asylum.

They were buried without headstones because relatives couldn't be found when they died.

The short dedication ceremony will be lead by the vicar of St Mary's church, the Reverend Becky Lumley.

The leader of North Lincolnshire Council has defended plans to build new homes and sport facilities just outside of Scunthorpe.

The authority wants to buy a 500-acre plot, called Vale Farm, near the Forest Pines Hotel.

It's thought the development could create 250 jobs.

The plans have been criticised by opposition Labour group who say they've been kept in the dark.

But Conservative council leader Rob Waltham (pictured) has accused the Labour party of jeopardising the plans, saying publicly questioning the proposals was "reckless and irresponsible".
