  2. Traffic and travel: Accidents on A63 causing delayspublished at 17:36 BST 12 August 2016

    Two accidents are adding to the usual congestion in East Yorkshire this Friday rush hour.

    An accident has blocked the eastbound carriageway of the A63 in North Ferriby between the Melton Old Road junction and the Ferriby High Road junction.

    There's also disruption on the A63 out of Hull between the Ferriby High Road and Clive Sullivan Way because of an accident involving three vehicles earlier on.

    Bridlington is gearing up for the first ever coble festival this weekend. 

    Nine sailing cobles will be in the resort, one is being brought over from Cornwall especially.

    As the Labour run Hull City Council announce more planned cuts of £2.2m the Lib Dems have attacked it as a panic move.

    The council say they have to make difficult decisions on the back of a very tough funding position and will continue to plan and budget to maintain vital services.

  5. Conservatory crash in Keyinghampublished at 16:50 BST 12 August 2016

    Extraordinary scene in Keyingham where a car ploughed into a conservatory last night.

    The residents were upstairs at the time. 

    Police have said driver was arrested and treated for minor injuries.

  7. Banned East Yorkshire horse dealer jailedpublished at 16:14 BST 12 August 2016

    An East Yorkshire woman has been jailed for 20 weeks for neglecting horses.

    Sarah Jane Harrison, 40, from Harlthorpe near Howden was found guilty of breaching a previous ban on keeping horses.

    RSPCA officials who visited her yard found the horses had been living in filthy conditions and without sufficient food or water.

    Virgin Trains, which runs services between Hull, Lincolnshire and London, is promising a normal timetable during RMT strike action. 

    The union announced they are to stage three 24-hour strikes over jobs, working conditions and safety.

    Virgin Trains is making changes to "customer-facing roles". 

    In a statement the company said this will have no impact on safety, and will result in a better experience for customers.

    I've been at Hull City's press conference ahead of their Leicester City opener tomorrow. 

    The club's caretaker manager Mike Phelan says Jake Livermore will play at centre-back tomorrow for Hull City AFC against Leicester.

    Police are reminding supporters to get to the KCOM Stadium, external in plenty of time tomorrow.

  12. Traffic and travel: Train delayspublished at 15:01 BST 12 August 2016

    Allow extra travelling time on if you're planning to use the trains between Hull and London today.

    There are major delays following after an incident at Newark North Gate earlier.

    First Hull Trains says delays are up to 90 minutes and tickets being accepted on East Midlands Trains services.

    The line towards Doncaster is now open with trains being able to run through the area at extreme caution.

    The line towards to London is still closed whilst a the damaged train is towed away.

    Another £2.2m of cuts are on the table for Hull City Council.

    Hull's Labour-run local authority will discuss these savings at a meeting next week.

    Areas which could be affected include children's centre's, subsidies for bus routes and staffing levels within trading standards and Hull's Advice Service, which offers help on issues such as housing, debt and benefits.

    It's in addition to the £8m of cuts announced last month which are currently being considered.

    The council has blamed a lack of government support for having to tighten its budget.

  17. Hull City: No new signings confirmedpublished at 12:52 BST 12 August 2016

    Hull City's caretaker manager Mike Phelan has confirmed that there will be no new signings ahead of tomorrow's Premier League opener against Leicester City. 

    Phelan was placed in temporary charge after Steve Bruce resigned during the summer. 

    The club remains up for sale and supporters are planning a demonstration against the owners before tomorrrow's game.

    A 50ft tall silo containing hessian sacks is on fire in Melton.

    Fire crews from Brough and West Hull are currently dealing with incident on Gibson Lane. 

    Humberside Fire and Rescue say there is no immediate danger.

    Meanwhile, be careful if you're passing through Brigg. A crew is there helping to remove dangerous glazing from a house in Wrawby Street.

  19. Virgin Trains East Coast: Strike action announcedpublished at 12:05 BST 12 August 2016

    If you are planning to travel to London by train next Friday be aware that cancellations are likely.

    RMT Union members that work at Virgin Trains East Coast have voted to strike on 19, 26 and 29 August and will ban overtime for 48 hours from 27 August.

    If the strikes go ahead it is likely that services will be disrupted.
