  2. Production stops at Hereford food plantpublished at 17:56 GMT 15 March 2016

    A food manufacturing company has announced it will stop its production of bread and battered products chicken products for Asda at its processing plant in Yazor Road, Hereford, from June, "affecting 230 roles in the city".

    Cargill says the decision follows the loss of the Asda business during "a competitive tendering process". 

    The company says "every effort" will be made to redeploy employees at its other sites in Wolverhampton, Hereford and Newent - it has begun "a consultation period with employees and their Union representatives".

    The MP for Bromsgrove and Business Secretary, Sajid Javid, has suggested he'd be in favour of a further cut to beer duty in Wednesday's Budget.

    The chancellor has cut the tax in each of the last four years. 

    Mr Javid says he has personal reasons for wanting to see a cut: "I do recall when I was the Economic Secretary, I did get a beer named after me,Sajid's Choice, which was a fine brew and so there's lots of reasons to cut beer duty." 

  5. Ice cream van rules 'no great hardship'published at 17:43 GMT 15 March 2016

    An ice cream seller from Worcester says new rules that ice cream vans must move on after 15 minutes are "no great hardship".

    The vans must move under the city council's new rules - despite claims pensioners less quick on their feet could miss out. 

    Mobile street traders will only be allowed to stay in one spot for up to 30 minutes if a queue forms, the authority said.

    Dean Clarke, from Dean's Ices, said: "I can't see it's any great hardship to anyone who is street trading."

    Triple killer Joanne Dennehy, who stabbed two men in Hereford, has been awarded legal aid to fight for compensation over her "degrading" segregation in prison.

    Dennehy, 33, from Peterborough, is serving life for the murders of three men and the attempted murders of two dog walkers in 2013.

    She is challenging a decision to continue to keep her separated from other inmates.

    A Ministry of Justice spokesman confirmed Dennehy received legal aid.

    A coroner has called on the Ministry of Defence to improve safety after the death of a Herefordshire man and four other British servicemen in a helicopter crash in Afghanistan.

    Oxfordshire coroner, Darren Salter, has written to the MoD saying fatigue and a lack of training could have contributed to the accident.

    The men, including L/Cpl Oliver Thomas (pictured above), from Kington, died during training when an Army Air Corps Lynx crashed 12 miles from Kandahar airbase in 2014.

    After 17:00 I'll be talking to a woman from Hereford who's calling for the meningitis vaccine to be given to more children. 

    Jo Lofting's 20-year-old son, Jack, now needs round-the-clock care after contracting the most serious strain of the disease when he was a toddler. 

    At the moment, only babies are given the vaccine, but a petition with 800,000 signatures is calling for all children under the age of 11 to get it.

    The number of people being prosecuted for using a mobile phone while driving by West Mercia Police has gone down by a quarter in the past two years, reports BBC Hereford & Worcester

    A driving instructor from Hay-on-Wye says some people are so obsessed with taking photographs of themselves on their phone, they are even doing it while driving. 

    Sandra Macdonald-Ames, an advanced driver trainer, says: "Nine percent of drivers have actually admitted to taking a selfie when driving. That's the ones who (have) admitted it, never mind about the ones who said 'oh no, of course I don't'."

  16. Public asked for for their views on poultry farm applicationpublished at 15:44 GMT 15 March 2016

    A public drop-in session over plans for a poultry farm is being held by the Environment Agency on Wednesday, 23 March at Upton Snodsbury Village Hall.

    The agency says the aim of the drop-in session, between 15:00 and 20:00, is to speak to residents and answer any questions about an application by Frogmore Farm to operate a poultry farm in the village. 

    Dane Broomfield, environment management team leader, says: “It is important that we obtain and consider the views of the public before we make our final decision on the application." 

  17. Away leg of Vase semi-final to be screened at Edgar Streetpublished at 15:22 GMT 15 March 2016

    Hereford FC have confirmed they will be screening Saturday's FA Vase semi-final second leg, being played at Salisbury, in Addisons and the Starlite Rooms at Edgar Street.

    The club has received permission from the FA to show live coverage of the game, as away tickets at Salisbury are limited and sold out on Saturday morning.

    The Bulls won the home leg 1-0.
