  5. Watch: Midlands Engine for Growth fired uppublished at 17:52

    The Business Secretary and Bromsgrove MP Sajid Javid has unveiled what's been called the Midlands Engine for Growth with talk of around 300,000 new jobs over 15 years. 

    Mr Javid said businesses and government must work closely to promote the region.

    However, the announcement came as the government announced it was scrapping the Manufacturing Advisory Service which helps small businesses invest, and create jobs. 

    Some business leaders in the West Midlands have expressed their shock and dismay at the move.

  6. Man arrested after two found injured on housing estatepublished at 17:40

    A man in his 60s has been arrested on suspicion of grievous bodily harm after two men were found with injuries on a Hereford housing estate last night.

    Police say they were called just before midnight to reports of a serious assault in Regent Gardens.

    West Mercia Police say a 24-year-old man was found with head injuries, and a 37-year-old man suffered facial injuries.

    Both were taken to Hereford Hospital by ambulance.

    A community Christmas carol concert for Bromsgrove is this year to be held in a local church for the first time, the council says.

    The service, organised by the district council and Bromsgrove Churches Together, will be in St John’s Church on Wednesday, 16 December at 18:30.

    The concert will feature Finstall First School choir.
