Staying largely dry through the rest of tonight with clear spells and areas of high cloud at times. A light easterly breeze, and not as chilly as previous nights with temperatures only dipping to about 7C (45F).

Saturday will be dry and very warm with sunny spells, hazy at times. Feeling fresher along the east coast in the southeasterly breeze, with temperatures reaching highs 24C (75F) inland.

Conservative Roger Hirst has won the police and crime commissioner election in Essex after second-preference votes were counted.
UKIP's Bob Spink finished second.

UKIP's Bob Spink is waiting for the Essex Police and Crime Commissioner result here in Colchester.
He's hoping he has gained enough support to beat the Conservative Roger Hirst. The result is expected shortly.

Either Conservative Roger Hirst or UKIP's Bob Spink will replace the current Tory Police and Crime Commissioner for Essex, Nick Alston.

Mr Alston, who was elected in November 2014 with just 4.7% of the vote, announced in July he was standing down to spend more time with his family.
He admitted he had been "uncertain about the role of PCC" when he first took office, but was "now convinced that the direct, open and transparent accountability to local people that PCCs provide is becoming an exemplar of effective modern, local democracy".

Here are the results from round one of the Essex police and crime commissioner (PCC) election:
The contest has now gone to second-preference votes and is between Conservative Roger Hirst and UKIP's Bob Spink.
The Essex police and crime commissioner election has gone to second preference votes as there is no clear winner in the first round.
The battle is now between Tory candidate Roger Hirst and UKIP's Bob Spink.
Labour, the Liberal Democrats and the independent candidate are now out of the running.

The turnout for this year's police and crime commissioner (PCC) election in Essex was 26%.
At the last PCC election in 2012 our county had the fourth-lowest turnout in the whole of England, with just 12.8%.
The Conservatives have held control of Rochford District Council with an overall majority.
