  3. Driver punched in face by teenagers through windowpublished at 17:22 BST 16 August 2019

A man out driving in Exmouth was punched in the face through an open car window by a teenager, police said.

The driver and his partner were driving along Duke's Crescent into Prince of Wales Drive at about 12:30 on Tuesday when they came across three teenage boys.

Det Con Ailsa Mason said the victim suffered "serious facial injuries" including "deep lacerations and a facial fracture" as a result of the attack.

The victim was wearing glasses at the time of the attack but did not suffer any lasting injury to his sight.

Det Con Mason said: "This was an unprovoked assault in a residential area in broad daylight.

"The offenders attacked the victim as he waited to pull out of a junction after walking deliberately slowly in front of his car to instigate the confrontation."

The offenders are described as all being white teenage boys about 17 years old - one about 6ft tall, of medium build, with blonde straight hair longer at the top and short on the sides.

He was described as having a "fine but prominent nose" and was clean shaven.

Another teenager was said to be about 5ft 9ins, with dark hair cut in a blunt style, straight across the front and longer around the hairline. He was described as having a square face with a smallish nose and wearing a faded black jumper with a large motif on the chest.

  14. Storm-hit A379 Slapton road 'will not be repaired again'published at 10:09 BST 16 August 2019

    Sophie Pierce
    BBC Radio Devon

    Damaged A379

A vulnerable section of coast road in south Devon will not be repaired again if it is washed away by the sea, it has been claimed.

The Slapton Line Partnership - made up of local councils, the Environment Agency and Natural England - said locals need to prepare for a future without it.

The partnership was formed when the A379, between Strete and Torcross, was first washed away in 2001.

Last year, the road was breached again by Storm Emma, and was shut for five months while repairs were carried out.

Now, the authorities say there is no room to move the road further back; and neither is there the money.

A series of public events is being held this week and next, to give people more information.
