Most of the 75 staff working for a claims management company in Exeter have been made redundant after the firm was put into administration.
The offices of EMCAS on the Exeter Business Park were closed after staff were told to collect their belongings and go home on Friday morning.
It's understood wages have not been paid for this month. Administrators, Duff & Phelps Ltd have taken control of the company.
Existing customer contracts have been switched to Rightside Financial Services Limited as of 1 April 2019.
Longer spells or rain will re-develop on Friday evening and continue throughout the night.

Image source, RSPCAA filthy tawny owl needed a deep clean after falling into a slurry pit in Devon.
The RSPCA said it was found huddled up beside the pit in Broadhembury, near Honiton, on 20 April "covered in filth".
Inspector Marije Zwager went to collect her and said she was "very lucky to be alive".

Image source, RSPCAThe owl was warmed up and washed in a specialist bird wash room at the charity's Somerset centre.
She will now be monitored and, once well enough, released back into the wild near the area she was found, the RSPCA added.
New resident parking zones are due to come into force in Truro and St Ives on Monday, but Cornwall Council has admitted many people have still not received their permits.
The authority says it's due to a backlog of applications for residents' permits, as well as new permits for care workers.
It added it would not be enforcing the new zones until it's sure everyone had a permit.

Plymouth City Council said that contractors are working to remove the material which is described as containing "low grade, low risk asbestos".
A man has been arrested and charged with assaulting five police officers and a security worker in Newquay.
It followed reports of a shoplifting incident at a store in the town on Wednesday.
In a statement, Devon and Cornwall Police said a 37-year-old man was refused bail and was due to appear before Bodmin Magistrates' Court.

Image source, GoogleA mental health facility in Chudleigh, Newton Abbot, has closed after receiving a rating of "inadequate" in an inspection earlier this year.
The Care Quality Commission (CQC) served a warning notice to Meadow Lodge after it found the establishment did not manage "in a way that ensured safe care was delivered".
Following the February inspection, Huntercombe (Granby One) Limited took the decision to close Meadow Lodge and remove it from its portfolio of services.
The CQC said Meadow Lodge didn't provide a "stable, positive" culture and frequent management changes "caused confusion amongst staff".
Inspectors also found on seven occasions over a six-week period agency nurses without the relevant knowledge or experience of mental health or child and adolescent mental health were left in charge of shifts.

There are hopes a new use can be found for an historic church in Honiton which would benefit the local community.
St Michael’s Church dates from the 15th Century.
In the 19th Century, a new parish church, St Paul’s, was built in the centre of the town to serve the growing population and St Michael’s was re-designated a “chapel of ease”.
It was closed to the public at the start of 2019 because of poor attendance and the need for major structural repairs.
Ideas for its future use are now due to be discussed at a public meeting on 2 May at St Paul’s Church, Honiton.

Police are appealing for witnesses after an ambulance hit a tree while en route to a crash scene.
A car and HGV were involved in a crash on the A39 at Rooks Bridge, Barnstaple, at about 17:20 on 25 April.
While approaching the scene, the ambulance left the road, leaving the driver trapped.
He was released from the vehicle and taken to hospital with "relatively minor injuries", police said.
The road was closed while investigation work took place.
Any witnesses are asked to contact Devon and Cornwall Police via 101.
Friends and relatives have remembered a 15-year-old boy who died of a suspected drugs overdose in Salcombe.
Father Daniel French said a memorial service for Tyler Peck at Holy Trinity Church, Salcombe, was "very poignant, honouring this young life".
