A crash between a car and a van left the car driver with "potentially life-changing injuries to his leg".

Police are appealing for witnesses to the crash at about 10:55 on Tuesday on the A3075 near Goonhavern.

The van driver had minor injuries.

Any witnesses are asked to contact police on 101.

Fire crews managed to put out a house fire in the village of Lamorna in west Cornwall.

Four crews were called out to the fire shortly after 12:00.

Cornwall Fire and Rescue Service said an investigation would be carried out to find out the cause of the blaze.

A man had three teeth knocked out and was left with a broken nose in a road rage assault in Plymouth, police have said.

It happened on the Marsh Mills Roundabout between 16:30 and 17:00 on Wednesday 27 March.

The man - in his 50s - was travelling alone in a blue Vauxhall Astra when he was reportedly cut up by a vehicle on the road from Plympton to the roundabout, officers said.

Both drivers got out of their cars and as the victim was speaking to the other driver, the passenger of the offending vehicle struck him on the back of the head, causing him to fall flat onto his face on the ground.

The offending driver then kicked the victim - breaking his nose and knocking his teeth out.

One of the suspects is described as being a man in his mid 20s and was driving a black Mercedes with stickers on the back window and a double exhaust.

Any witnesses are asked to contact Devon and Cornwall Police via 101.

A 12-year-old boy had his phone snatched by two teenagers in Bideford, police have said.

It happened at about 16:15 on Friday 15 March while the boy was walking along Kingsley Road, towards Morrisons supermarket.

Officers want to hear from any witnesses and in particular a member of the public who intervened and helped the boy.

He was opposite the Old Town Barbers when two older boys - described as being about aged 15 - approached him, blocked his path and refused to move.

The boy walked around them, but was then chased before they caught up with him and demanded he hand over his mobile phone, officers added.

He asked a member of the public for help who approached the two older boys and was able to get the mobile phone back.

Anyone with information is asked to contact Devon and Cornwall Police via 101.

There are a number of power cuts across Devon, Western Power Distribution (WPD) has said.

The affected places include:

• 64 properties without power in the EX8 area of Exmouth
• 46 properties without power in the TQ7 area of Kingsbridge
• 23 properties without power in the TQ12 area of Newton Abbot

Engineers are working on the issues and power is set to be restored in all three areas between 13:30 and 16:00, WPD added.

There are calls for people who use disposable barbecues on Cornish beaches to get rid of them more responsibly - after a two-year-old boy needed hospital treatment when he stood on one buried in the sand.

RNLI lifeguards gave the toddler emergency first aid treatment for a badly injured foot after the incident on Perranporth beach.

He was taken to hospital by his parents to receive further treatment.

The RNLI says the little boy's injury could have been avoided if the barbecue had been put in the bin.

The charity is urging people to make sure barbecues are disposed of safely, and is encouraging people - if they seen anybody leaving one behind - to either ask them politely to bin their rubbish or to bin it themselves.

A teenager arrested on suspicion of attempted murder after two men were stabbed has been released on bail, police have said.

The 19-year-old man from Newquay was arrested after officers were called to Holmbush Arch Road at about 23:15 on Sunday.

The two victims - both in their 20s - were taken to hospital for treatment. One remains there with "potentially life-threatening" injuries, police added.

Searches are ongoing to find a second man in connection with the incident.

Plymouth MP Johnny Mercer says he will help investors of a failed bond scheme that lost savers £236m.

Moor View Conservative Johnny Mercer receives £85,000 from Crucial Academy, a company ultimately funded by Surge Financial Limited.

Surge Financial Limited took 25% commission for marketing bonds by London Capital and Finance (LCF), which is now in administration.

Mr Mercer has totally rejected an assertion "that I have done anything wrong in working as a Non-Executive Director of Crucial Academy".

He added that he had "never met, heard of, or had any interest" in LCF.

Mr Mercer has tweeted he would "help London Capital and Finance investors in whatever way I can".

Detailed plans for the first phase of a major regeneration project at Hayle Harbour look set to be approved next week.

The overall development for North Quay already has outline planning permission which was first granted in 2010.

Included in the plans going to the committee are proposals for 151 new homes, 2,014 square metres of retail space, 595 square metres of business space, 343 square metres of storage space for fishermen and 305 parking spaces, 208 of which will be basement parking.

The development will include 12 buildings which will range from three to six storeys high apart from the Fisherman’s Quay building which will be single storey.

Planning officers have recommended that the plans are approved when they go to Cornwall Council’s strategic planning committee on 2 May.

There had been concerns that the development could impact on the World Heritage Site but the planning officers say that the harm is considered to be “modest”.

The plans have been supported by Hayle Town Council and there have been no objections from the World Heritage Site team, Historic England and the Environment Agency.

Former Conservative MP and minister Ann Widdecombe has announced she is set to return to politics - for the Brexit Party.

Ms Widdecombe, 71, who lives in Devon, said she would still vote Conservative in the upcoming local elections but would stand as a candidate for Nigel Farage's new party in the European elections.

She said she wanted to "fire a very loud warning shot across the bows" of the established parties.

The former shadow home secretary has been retired since 2010.

Writing in the Daily Express, external, Ms Widdecombe said the "last thing" she wanted was "a full-on return to the political fray" but she felt it necessary to re-affirm "the supremacy of the will of the people".

She added: "What the Remain campaign failed to achieve by fear must not be achieved by fatigue."

More than 2,800 people sought medical attention at Cornwall's emergency treatment centres over the Easter weekend.

The Royal Cornwall Hospitals Trust said its Emergency Department near Truro, the Urgent Care Centre at West Cornwall in Penzance, and minor injuries units across the county saw 600 more patients over the bank holiday than it did the previous year.
