    Exeter Chiefs player Damian Welch has been revealing his talents as an artist, hoping it may lead to a second career as a tattooist.

    The 18-stone second row started drawing as a child and recently took it up again, sketching his team mates.

    The 34-year-old hopes to get an apprenticeship with a tattoo artist and start a new career when the time comes to hang up his boots.

  7. Looe landslide inquest: 'You could float down to town'published at 16:48 GMT 11 November 2016

    The jury at the inquest into the death of Susan Norman has been hearing more details about the weather conditions in Looe on the night before she died.

    Susan Norman was crushed to death while she slept when a landslide hit her flat on 22 March 2013.

    Ron Lundy, who lives on the road directly above the flat where Susan Norman lived, told the jury: "Had you a boat you could float down to the town".

    The inquest has already heard Looe was experiencing some of the heaviest rainfall it had ever seen.

    The inquest continues.

    Volunteers have begun a five-year project to clear vegetation covering an important Bronze Age settlement on Dartmoor.

    The village, which consists of five houses and a pound wall, is believed to be about 3,000 years old.

    Andy Crabb an archaeologist for Dartmoor National Park says the ancient settlers who lived there would have been "governed by the time of year, moving livestock around the landscape according to the season".

    One hundred and fifty school children from Cornwall have formed a human poppy to show their respect for the fallen.

    The children from Mullion Community Primary school were photographed by the crew of a Sea King helicopter which was passing overhead.

    Speaking on BBC Radio Cornwall 10-year-old Ella who took part in the memorial said: "We did it so we could remember all the soldiers in the war.

    "We've learned about the soldiers that gave their lives for their country, that lots of them were really young."

    The jury at the inquest into the death of Susan Norman has been shown a video of the weather conditions in the town the night before she died. 

    Susan Norman was crushed to death in her bed when a landslide hit her flat on 22 March 2013.

    The recording showed the volume and level of surface water running down St Martin's Road, directly above the flat where she lived.

    The jury heard that the water was high enough to be washing over sandbags placed on the road 6in high.

    The inquest continues.

    A review of Cornwall's social housing register has seen about 12,000 applicants taken off the waiting list.

    Cornwall Housing has reviewed the accounts of every applicant who hasn't logged into the allocation system for more than a year.

    Those who didn't get in touch when they were asked to say they wanted to stay on the register have been removed from the list.

    When the review started there were more than 30,000 applicants waiting for homes, that's now been cut down to 18,500.

    A 90-year-old man who was stuck in a lift in Teignmouth was rescued by the fire service , externalon Thursday evening.

    A fire engine from Teignmouth was sent to a property in Dawlish Road at 6.59pm.

    Fire crews have been sent to the Boots store in Plymstock after a fire broke out.

    Crews were called to the Broadway at about 11:30 to reports of a fire in a light fitting.

    The fire was put out by crews who were wearing breathing apparatus.

    Four people were arrested in the Newquay area yesterday after a series of drugs raids by police., external

    A 29-year-old woman was arrested on suspicion of possession of class A and class B drugs, and a 29-year-old man was arrested on suspicion of money laundering at a property on Calshot Close in St Columb Minor.

    A missing teenager who was "bored of his life" told his mum "don't worry" the day he ran away from home.

    Arthur Heeler-Frood, 15, has been missing from his family home in Axminster, Devon, for more than two months.

    As he left for school on his bike on 6 September, he said "don't worry mum, I've got my fluorescent [vest]".

    Ten of Torbay's 15 beaches continue to meet the highest European bathing water standards, according to the district council.

    The water quality results have just been released and of the other five beaches four were classed as good, and one, Paignton Sands as sufficient.

    Torbay’s Mayor Gordon Oliver said: “I’m delighted to see that Torbay has been awarded these excellent results for the 2016 bathing season. By working in partnership with South West Water and the Environment Agency we are continuing to build on the high standards we have set ourselves."

    Electronic signs have been put up at Goodrington Beach and Torre Abbey to provide visitors with up to date bathing water quality information and daily forecasts. The sign, provided by Defra, gives the day’s quality prediction each morning during the bathing season.
