Figures from the Office for National Statistics show that workers in the South West are still £32 a week worse off than they were before the financial crash, according to the South West Trades Union Congress (TUC).
Figures published today, show that in 2016 real wages in the region were 5.9% below their 2008 level.
The TUC says with inflation predicted to overtake wage growth next year it's worried that another living standards crisis is on the horizon.

Cornwall Council has said it has begun conversations with residents and shopkeepers about proposals for new residents’ parking schemes.
In all seven districts Bude, Falmouth and Penryn, Newquay, Penzance and Newlyn, St Ives, Truro and Wadebridge, maps are now being published setting out exactly which streets are inside the possible new Residents’ Parking Zones.
Cllr Bert Biscoe, said: “By changing the way we finance the overall scheme we’re able to reduce the price of parking permits in Residents’ Parking Zones to £50 (second permits will be £75)."

A Devon GP surgery has been rated outstanding by the health regulator.
The Care Quality Commission (CQC) says the service provided by the Blackdown Practice in Hemyock is exceptional.
It inspected the surgery in June and says it works closely with the local community to plan how services can better meet the needs of patients.
The town of Camelford has sent a stark message to Parliamentary Boundary Commissioners, external considering the creation of a Devonwall constituency – saying that it wants to stay in Cornwall.

A woman who was "devoted" to horses became "overwhelmed" when she ran the Second Chance Horse Rescue Centre from her home at St Day, Cornwall and the neglect of these animals led to her conviction.
Kevin Withey, prosecuting on behalf of the RSPCA in the case against Roberta Cleere, 39, said there had been "medium to long-term neglect".
Cleere was previously found guilty of four counts of animal cruelty and was sentenced by Truro Magistrates to 100 hours of unpaid work and ordered to pay £1,250 in costs.

They were sentenced to a 12 month community order to carry out 100 hours of unpaid work.
Since the 2015 incident the couple's son had been taken temporarily into care and now splits his time between them, the couple had split, both had lost their jobs and they were having to sell their house, Exeter magistrates were told.

Devon and Cornwall Police have been tweeting today to raise awareness of identity fraud.
Officers have encouraged people to "keep passwords secret" and "use three random words to create a password".

Flybe has announced it believes it's time for a new chief executive to lead the next phase of the company's development.

Three men and one woman have been rescued from a wooden boat stuck in mud.
Firefighters, the coastguard and the RNLI lifeboat were sent to an area close to Sharpham Point at about 19:30 last night.
The group, who were aged between 61 and 81, were brought ashore unhurt using inflatable walkways.
