North Devon District Hospital could lose some key services with people having to travel to hospitals in Exeter or Taunton in Somerset. The health service in North, East and West Devon needs to cut costs to avoid a combined overspend of £442m by 2020/21.
Commissioners say it's too early to discuss specific options but I've been frequently told that nothing is being ruled out.

North Devon District Hospital is one of the smallest and most remote acute hospitals in England. Smaller departments mean there isn't always access to specialist equipment and senior staff. Could people get better treatment at a lower cost if they have to travel further, and which services need to stay? Some tough questions for NHS bosses seeking to reorganise care.

Health campaigners in north Devon say they're extremely concerned by the prospect of losing key local hospital services.
The future of A&E, maternity, children's and stroke services at North Devon District Hospital are being reviewed as part of plans to try to prevent a multi-million pound budget deficit. Health commissioners said it was too early to discuss specific options but the NHS was living beyond its means in parts of the county.
Marilyn Jobson-Scott, had a stroke three years ago, said: "I think it's abominable. One of the things they tell you if you have a stroke is it's fast, and you have to get to hospital as quickly as possible. If you've got go a long, long way, that's obviously going to delay things."

People who post revenge porn online need to be given longer prison sentences to ensure new laws are effective, a helpline says.

At least 40 victims of revenge porn in Devon and Cornwall have reported incidents to local police since the law came into effect last April, a Freedom of Information request by the BBC revealed. The youngest victim was 14.
Laura Higgins, from the Exeter-based Revenge Porn Helpline, said: "Whilst many more people have started reporting it, we're not seeing many going as far as court, or still having quite lenient sentences. I think it's going to be some time really before we start seeing any really hard-hitting couple-of-year custodial sentences which will be a deterrent."
