  12. Are you paying too much for Brussels sprouts?published at 17:02 GMT 13 December 2017

Consumers could find themselves paying vastly different prices for their Brussels sprouts this Christmas, a new study has found.

The research, by Loughborough University, looked at prices of the Christmas vegetable across eight food shops, finding they cost between £1 and £1.99 per pack.

But Dr Jon Seaton, who was in charge of the research, found that the greater price disparity came about when consumers did not pay attention to the packaging.

He said some shoppers could pay as little as £1 or as much as £11 per kilogram.

Dr Seaton added: "We all tend to look for prices close to a pound - all vegetables are in packs for a pound, or a pound something.

"But there is a big range in the amount of sprouts per pack.

"A single supermarket can have up to eight kinds of sprout packs, and the pricing is done in such a way that you can't easily compare each pack".

Two of Mr McKenna's work colleagues, who were passengers, were also seriously injured.

Ian Stringer, who commentates for the BBC Radio Leicester on Leicester City matches, was speaking after an inquest concluded her cause of death should be recorded as unascertained.

Christine Davies, who struggled with alcoholism, was found at her home in Lincoln on 21 June last year, after neighbours raised the alarm because she had not been seen for a number of weeks.

Mr Stringer believes Ms Davies hit her head in April and died on 4 May.

"It feels like someone has ripped my heart out and they’re feeding it back to me," Mr Stringer told BBC News.

He added that he continually tried to get his mother to seek help for her addiction but admits that "she was in denial and she didn't think she had a problem".

"I did my best but I failed and I don’t like failure, she instilled that in me."
