    American singer, visual artist and "punk poet laureate" Patti Smith (pictured) and country/folk singer-songwriter John Prine are headlining the Cambridge Folk Festival, external, it has been announced.

    The event at Cherry Hinton Hall, which attracts thousands of music fans from around the country, is taking place between 2 August and 5 August 2018.

    Other artistes announced include Janis Ian, who topped the US charts in the 1970s with her song At Seventeen, country singer Rosanne Cash, English folk music royalty Eliza Carthy and the Wayward Band (pictured) and blues legend Eric Bibb.

    Police say no-one was injured in an accident earlier on the A14 near Bar Hill between a lorry and a van.

    Motorists are facing delays of about more than an hour on the A14 after a crash near Bar Hill.

    Police said the accident happened at about 13:15 on the eastbound carriageway.

  11. Security guards to patrol Peterborough taxi rankspublished at 10:44 GMT 8 December 2017

    Security marshals will be guarding taxi ranks in parts of Peterborough in the run-up to Christmas in a bid to stem anti-social behaviour.

    Two Security Industry Authority (SIA)-registered marshals will patrol the Broadway and Northminster ranks each weekend between now and New Year's Eve.

    They will carry body-worn cameras and radios which will give them access to CCTV and the police.

    The scheme's been developed by the Safer Peterborough Partnership, Cambridgeshire Police and the city council, and aims to prevent alcohol-fuelled anti-social behaviour and ensure passengers can get taxis quickly and safely.

    Here are the latest images of relieved passengers finally leaving a train that was stuck near Peterborough after hitting an object on the track at about 10:30.

    The Hull Trains service from London King's Cross came to a halt at Helpston after sustaining what the company described as "catastrophic engine failure".

    Passengers were stuck on board for more than four hours, many complaining of no water or working toilets, while the fuel leak was cleared and a rescue train organised.

    They have now been moved from the stricken train, but passengers using services between London and the north east are still being warned about delays.

  15. Train fuel leak was 'catastrophic failure' of enginepublished at 17:42 GMT 7 December 2017

    The Managing Director of Hull Trains has apologised to passengers and praised staff on a train which was stranded after a fuel leak between Peterborough and Grantham.

    Will Dunnett has also now revealed that the 09:48 London to Hull train didn't strike an object on the tracks, as was originally thought, but it was in fact a "catastrophic failure of the engine".

    Earlier today, Hull Trains, Network Rail and the train's driver thought something struck the train between Peterborough and Grantham which ruptured the fuel tanks.

  16. Minister's stuck train affects Culture announcementpublished at 17:31 GMT 7 December 2017

    The Minister for Arts is one of the people stuck on a train which has suffered a fuel leak between Peterborough and Grantham, it's emerged.

    John Glen has now confirmed he won't be able to announce the winner of the City of Culture 2021 title on the BBC's One Show, as was originally planned.

    The announcement will now be made by Phil Redmond, who is Chair of the UK City of Culture panel:

    A newspaper published 11,000 copies of an edition which included instructions to writers on the front page instead of a headline, it has revealed.

    The Cambridge News left "100PT SPLASH HEADING HERE" in place of the intended headline about a "sex lair" school on most of Wednesday's papers.

    The Cambridge News apologised yesterday for a "technical error", but the paper's owner Trinity Mirror has since refused to say what the error was or how it went unnoticed.

    A spokesman said 11,000 copies had the erroneous headline, but 3,000 of the Cambourne edition ran the correct headline.

    He said: "The company will be saying nothing further on this matter other than to reiterate the apology issued by the Cambridge News yesterday."

  19. Rail disruption expected until early eveningpublished at 16:30 GMT 7 December 2017

    Rail passengers using services between London and the north east are being told they could face disruption to their journeys until this evening.

    Some lines have reopened after a train hit an obstruction on the track near Peterborough this morning and sprung a fuel leak - however, National Rail says the knock-on effect of that could last several more hours.

    A number of trains have been cancelled and others are running up to an hour late.

  20. Fuel leak train stuck for more than 4 hourspublished at 16:10 GMT 7 December 2017

    Passengers have been tweeting and calling the BBC after the Hull Trains service which got stuck earlier this morning still remains stuck.

    The train struck an object on the track which ruptured fuel tanks leaving it at a standstill between Peterborough and Grantham.
