We'll be closing this live page shortly, but before we go here's a quick summary with some of today's key developments.
- Trump was asked by a journalist at the White House how far he was willing to go to acquire Greenland. "You'll find out," he replied. He said he was "sure they are going to be thrilled", when asked another question about Greenlanders not wanting to be part of the US
- The US president also said there was "no going back" on his plan, claiming "Greenland is imperative", and questioned whether Nato would come to the rescue of the US. "I know we'll come to (Nato's) rescue, but I just really do question whether or not they'll come to ours," he said
- A hard fought trade deal between the European Union and US is set to be suspended, according to sources close to the European Parliament’s international trade committee. The deal was due to be ratified next week
- Earlier in the day, at the Davos World Economic Forum meeting of global leaders in Switzerland, the Canadian prime minister talked about a new world order in which “compliance won't buy safety”
- This morning, in a string of posts on his Truth Social platform, Donald Trump shared an illustration of himself placing an American flag on Greenland
- He also made public messages that appeared to be sent to him from French President Emmanuel Macron and Nato Secretary General Mark Rutte, asking for dialogue about Greenland
