Twenty-five minutes before kick-off, the heavens opened over Fratton Park, giving many fans a soaking.
The big police operation had been very visible, with officers from Kent and Thames Valley among those working alongside the Hampshire force.
There have been no signs of any disorder so far.
The 44 coaches that brought Saints fans here are now in a secure area waiting to take them back after the match.
We'll be closing the page soon but don't worry, you can follow all the match action on BBC Sport's live page.
They'll be bringing you live text commentary, score updates and match stats from 12:00.

As we've reported, BBC Sport’s Dan George is already in the commentary box at Fratton Park, ready to bring you live coverage of the game, but here's what he had to say earlier in his match preview:
“Before we sink our teeth into previewing Sunday's match, it is only right that we touch on what can only be described as an underwhelming game in September.
The pre-match atmosphere at St Mary's was electric as the travelling Portsmouth fans were forced to get into the ground early, and were making a huge noise well before the players came out to warm up.
What then followed was a competitive but ultimately disappointing game that ended 0-0.
On the day it almost felt like both sides were somewhat afraid to fully commit because of the fear of conceding.
Portsmouth impressed in the first half and dominated the chances, but Southampton came out stronger in the second period, yet were unable to find a breakthrough.
Because neither were able to claim the bragging rights on the day, you do feel that added tension and frustration will be carried over to Sunday's match.”

A Southampton fan says they will have to entertain themselves "quite well" since coaches to the match with Portsmouth left so early.
Earlier this morning, Louisa Smith said it could "turn into a long old day".
But "once we get a beer in us we'll be fine", she said.
"We want to have a good game of football and enjoy ourselves. Be safe - it's the way to do it."

A Portsmouth fan says he is "nervous but excited and cautiously optimistic" about his team's upcoming game with Southampton.
"Anything can happen in a derby," says Jake Smith, who is also reporting on the game.
"Having that home advantage today is really going to benefit," he says.
Here are some statistics that may give you hope or despair, depending on your colours.

We are now all set up inside Fratton Park, with anticipation building for the derby, which is less than an hour away.
The Southampton fans have been packed into the Milton End to our right for a while now, with some derby-day chanting going on and some verbal back and forth with the Pompey fans in the section near them.
So far, everything seems in good derby-day spirit and we’re yet to hear of any behaviour crossing the line - let’s hope it stays that way and we get an entertaining game of football.

Back to the "bubble" for a moment.
Saints fan Ellis Archer says the travel arrangements to get to the match are a "bit of a pain".
As we've been reporting, Southampton supporters are only able go to Fratton Park today on designated coaches from St Mary's Stadium for the 12:00 kick-off.
"I had to wake up earlier than I do for work," says Ellis.
"It's a little bit of a pain [but] makes complete sense."
He says the arrangements mean he will have to hang around Fratton Park for several hours before and after the game.
"For a match that's 19 miles down the road, it's a bit of a long day."

As well as large presence on the ground in Portsmouth, a police helicopter has been flying over the city ahead of the game.

The last match was a 0-0 at St Mary’s but before that it was a huge 4-0 win for Saints at Fratton Park in 2019.
In total, there have been 72 first class matches between the clubs across the Southern League, Football League, Premier League and the FA and League Cups.
The overall record in those matches reads:

Buses started leaving the Southampton ground a little while ago.
In all, 44 coaches will travel from St Mary's to Fratton Park, carrying about 2,700 Saints fans.

In Portsmouth, there’s already a colourful match-day atmosphere, with large numbers of Pompey supporters making their way to Fratton Park.
The large police presence is also plain to see.
As well as officers on the ground, a police helicopter has also been overhead.
Police are also stationed on all the bridges along the route from Southampton to Portsmouth.

Southampton fan Tristan Hartwell says he is "really looking forward" to the upcoming match against Portsmouth FC.
"We played them away in 2019, but I wasn't old enough to go.
"Before that, I don't think I was born last time we played them.
"I am really looking forward to it."

It was looking quiet just after 09:00 GMT at Fratton Park train station.
But that will all change...

As well as the increased police presence, one Portsmouth business owner has raised concerns about the impact on traders.
Paul Taylor is the landlord of The Rose in June pub in Portsmouth and frequently welcomes away fans.
He said: "A lot of pubs local to stadiums also welcome in away fans. Unfortunately, because of the rivalry on a local derby, that trade is taken away.
"99% of the time, the fans are well-behaved and there are no problems anymore. The trouble days are nearly gone. It's a lot more fun now on match days."
But he said he still felt it was too early to scrap the bubble.
He continued: "I think in years to come it will slowly get there. The game at Southampton passed off very peacefully and hopefully the game this Sunday will pass off peacefully as well."
