Mark Thompson on future of broadcasting

On his last day as director general of the BBC, Mark Thompson says "quality will be the discriminator" in the future of television.

Thompson commended the BBC for revolutionising TV, though the multimedia use of news by its audience meant the term broadcaster may be "obsolescent".
