Waco police confirm missing firefighters were volunteers

Police in Texas have said a number of firefighters missing after an explosion at a fertiliser plant in Waco were volunteers.

Sgt William Patrick Swanton of the Waco police department said he was still unable to confirm exactly how many were unaccounted for.

He said there was probably "a very large contingent of people that are willing to risk their lives for their neighbours and their community after a phone call".
