Supporters march for New York Islamic centre

Rival demonstrations over a planned Islamic centre have been held in New York after the US marked the ninth anniversary of the 9/11 attacks.

Mounted police and dog units patrolled the streets, keeping the protests separated in two pens a distance away from the site of the former World Trade Center.
