Alps plane crash victims remembered at Cologne Cathedral service

A memorial service for the victims of last month's Alps plane crash has been held in Cologne Cathedral.

Some 500 relatives of the dead passengers and crew were among the 1,400-strong congregation, along with German Chancellor Angela Merkel.

Co-pilot Andreas Lubitz is accused of deliberately crashing the Germanwings Airbus on 24 March, killing 150 people.

Bells tolled as mourners arrived for the service, which began with a choir singing.

Relatives of the victims were handed small wooden angels as part of the service.
