Algerian president: First images on TV since illness

Algerian television has shown the first images of President Abdelaziz Bouteflika since April when he was flown to France for treatment after a stroke.

The footage showed the president at a meeting on Tuesday with the Algerian prime minister and the army chief of staff at the hospital in Paris.

A frail-looking Mr Bouteflika is seen sitting and smiling as he speaks to the officials. There has been widespread speculation in Algeria about the president's condition since he suffered a mini-stroke at the end of April.
