Kieran Evans wins Bafta award for outstanding debut

Welsh director Kieran Evans has won a Bafta award for outstanding debut by a British writer, director and producer.

The award was for his film Kelly + Victor, which tells the story of a young couple embarking on a passionate love affair.

Mr Evans, from St Davids, Pembrokeshire, accepted his award at the Sunday night's ceremony at London's Royal Opera House, which was attended by stars including Dame Judi Dench, Sandra Bullock, Tom Hanks and Leonardo DiCaprio.

In his speech he thanked family and friends from Wales for their support.
