Child benefit: Higher tax payers to have allowances cut
Higher rate tax payers who have not opted out of child benefit will have to fill out a self assessment tax form or could face a fine.
Households where one parent earns more than £50,000 a year will have their child benefit cut, and those earning more than £60,000 will lose it completely.
Lin Homer, chief executive of the HMRC, told BBC Radio 5 Live which wage earners should register for the new system.
