Gay marriage ban 'disastrous' for CofE

The Church of England and Church in Wales will be banned in law from offering same-sex marriages, the government has announced.

Legislation to allow gay marriage is set to be introduced before the 2015 general election.

The Reverend Colin Coward is the Director of Changing Attitude, which is a network for lesbian, gay, and bisexual members of the Church of England.

He told the BBC that the legislation as proposed would be "disastrous" for the church and vowed to fight to get it amended.
