Was a judge right to call a convicted burglar brave?

David Cameron has described burglars as cowards after a judge told one thief it took a "huge amount of courage" to burgle a house.

Judge Peter Bowers made the comments at Teesside Crown Court and decided not to send Richard Rochford to jail. Instead he got a 12 month suspended sentence, a two-year supervision order with drug rehabilitation, 200 hours of community service and a one-year driving ban.

Criminal defence lawyer Jeremy Dean QC told 5 live's Victoria Derbyshire. that his comments had been taken out of context.
