Meteor: 'Orange nucleus, green tail'

A number of police forces say they have received calls reporting what is thought to have been a meteor.

Reports of a "bright light" and an "orange glow" came in across the north of England and Scotland on Saturday night.

The Met Office tweeted: "Hi All, for anyone seeing something in the night sky, we believe it was a meteor".

Adrian West, an amateur astronomer, said it had had an orange nucleus and a green tail.
