New evidence in News of the World hacking inquiry

BBC News has seen a court document which suggests that phone hacking may have been going on at the News of the World as recently as 2010.

Previous allegations of wrong doing at the paper have related to events up to 2006.

Scotland Yard said it was starting a new criminal investigation into claims of the practice at the tabloid.

The Acting Commissioner of the Met is also expected to face new questioning about the force's handling of the case.

The News of the World has issued a statement saying it has carried out an extensive investigation into allegations of phone-hacking and found "no evidence whatsoever" to support a claim that hacking was taking place at the paper as recently as last year.

Steve Hewlett is the media commentator who passed the documents to the BBC. He spoke to Breakfast's Sian Williams.
