Air ambulance crews inundated with call-outs

Getting patients safely to hospital has been one of the biggest challenges during the current cold spell and air ambulance teams have seen requests soar.

One of the busiest air ambulance teams in the country covers Derbyshire, Leicestershire and Rutland, serving a population of about 1.5 million people, but relies entirely on voluntary donations and sponsorship to run it.

The BBC's Mike Cartwright spent the day with the crew based at East Midlands Airport.
