Dame Kiri Te Kanawa's tribute to conductor Claudio Abbado

Italian conductor Claudio Abbado, former musical director of La Scala, has died at the age of 80, after a long illness.

Dame Kiri Te Kanawa told the BBC of his "quite amazing" method of conducting by heart, saying that "because he didn't have to look at music, he could absolutely concentrate on you."
