'Many thousands' face fine for excess child benefit

"Many thousands" of people could face a fine for receiving too much child benefit, says Paul Lewis from Radio 4's Moneybox programme.

Under new rules, families where one parent earns more than £50,000 are losing some or all of their child benefit.

Paul Lewis from Radio 4's Money Box told BBC Breakfast that high-earners would have to contact the tax office by early October or face a possible fine of hundreds of pounds.
