Trustee Board Candidates Wanted

Vacancy for Member Nominated Trustee

An opportunity has arisen to play an important role in the future of the Pension Scheme. A vacancy for a Member Nominated Trustee Director will arise for a term running to 30 April 2032. All eligible members can apply for this role, regardless of background or position in the organisation.

As a member of the Trustee Board you would contribute to ensuring that the Scheme is governed in accordance with its Rules and changing legislation, and making decisions on strategy. You would help to decide investment policy to help sustain the Scheme financially, and monitor performance.

Would you like to be a Trustee of the Pension Scheme?

You don’t need to be a pensions expert or have a background in finance or investment, or specialist knowledge. The Board is looking for enthusiastic people who have a basic understanding of pensions, are willing to learn more, and most importantly dedicated to helping ensure the success of the Scheme.

Being a Trustee Director is demanding, but the work is varied, stimulating and fulfilling. It’s an opportunity to develop knowledge and skills that would be useful in any career, and work with a wide range of people. Member Trustee directors play an important role in the governance of the Scheme for the benefit of current and former BBC staff.

There are information sessions about the role on 10 November (1400-1530) and 18 November (1000-1130) for those who want to learn more. They will be at London Broadcasting House, with the facility to join virtually. To book a place or to find out more about the role, please contact the Scheme Secretary Rachel Hallett ([email protected]) by 31 October. Applications will only be accepted from those who attend the information session.

The Trustee Board welcomes applications from all employees who are contributing or deferred members of the Scheme, and is committed to diversity and inclusion. A diverse mix of people from different backgrounds can bring a variety of skills, perspectives, personal qualities and experiences to the Board, helping the Scheme to operate effectively for all its members and beneficiaries.

To be eligible to apply, you must be an Employed Member of the Scheme, i.e. a contributing member or a deferred member who is still employed by the BBC or a participating employer, and you must be a UK resident. You must also have the support of two other Employed Members. If there are two or more applications, an election will be conducted by an independent scrutineer.
