The fourth in Dolly Parton's series of bluegrass albums is irrepressibly perky. But whereas the previous three sat folk and country classics next to deliciously unpredictable choices like "Stairway To Heaven" or "I Get A Kick Out Of You", this time there is a consistent theme; peace and protest.
Parton is generous in letting others share the spotlight, from old stalwarts (George Jones, Brenda Lee and even Porter Wagoner and Yusuf Islam) to younger talent (Nickel Creek, Keith Urban and Norah Jones). And, on the title track, Dollywood regulars The Moscow State Circus.
In places it can all be a bit much, like the syrup-drenched "Imagine". But a dignified "The Cruel War" and a nimble rendition of "Me And Bobby McGee" with Kris Kristofferson manage to redress the balance.
