A strong debut from Nashville Star runner-up Miranda Lambert reveals a diamond in the...

As is the way of these things, although Miranda Lambert came third in the first Nashville Star talent contest she still bagged a record deal. And while the pressure was on for winner Buddy Jewell to come up with the goods straight away, the young Texan quietly got on and wrote her debut album.
Producer Frank Liddell (Lee Ann Womack) has opted to capture Lamberts youthful energy rather than add too much studio polish, allowing her to remain a diamond in the rough. The commercial success of artists like Gretchen Wilson has paved the way for a more rough and ready sound, which means that while Lambert's blonde hair and glossy pout feature prominently on the album sleeve, so does her guitar.
