BBC Review
Bubba is clearly looking to get paid and laid with this one.
After years of being considered the rural South'sanswer to Eminem (though he's a little chunkier), Bubba Sparxxx's third LP is clearly his stab at securing superstardom. Commerciality is the name of the game on The Charm - with pulsating anthems like "Ms Booty", and soggy ballads like "Run Away", Bubba is clearly looking to get paid and laid with this one.
Although the grimy sexual requests on "Heat It Up" suggest the big man deserves a slap, the rest of the album shows his lyrical skills are still to be respected. Proceedings are helped along by some top flight guests, including the Ying Yang Twins and Killer Mike.
It's just a shame that the production is, at times, borderline appalling, otherwise this album could have really charmed...
