To celebrate BBC Music Day, Edge Hill University is hosting an exciting programme of free events on the theme of identity from 14-16 June as part of Resonant Edge, its new contemporary music festival and symposium. Alongside Resonant Edge’s roundtable events, talks and performances, visitors will have the opportunity to experience a variety of sound installations created by various talented artists.

Highlights include:

15 June
Roberto Fabbriciani
Roundtable, 1.00pm
Flute Rendition, 8.00pm
Legendary avant garde flautist Roberto Fabbriciani talks about his fascinating and varied career. This is followed in the evening by a Flute Rendition, showcasing Fabbriciani’s innovative flute technique.

15 June, 6.00pm
Piano Recital: Lauryna Sableviciute
Internationally acclaimed soloist, chamber musician and accompanist, who began studying piano at the age of five, most notably with the National Philharmonic Orchestra of Lithuania.

15-16 June
Symposium: Conjurations of Hauntology in Music and Sound
Are contemporary pieces of music and sound haunted by the past? A series of four sessions discussing the concept of hauntology, a term coined by Jacques Derrida, which explores how historic, ‘non-being’ ‘non present’ cultural ‘ghosts’ can influence contemporary art forms.

16 June, 7.00pm
H7-25 & Tempo Reale
H7­25 are an electronic duo that explore the performance relationships between musicians, acoustic objects and electronic signals. Tempo Reale will present Emotional Soundscapes - a journey through different musical habitats, alternating dilated sound threads with obsessive rhythmic textures

16 June, 8.30pm
Jan Kopinski
A saxophonist for over thirty years in the UK, Jan specializes in improvisational music – drawing on jazz, Eastern European and contemporary influences.

17 June, 7.00pm
Roger McGough with the Royal Liverpool Philharmonic Orchestra’s Ensemble 10/10
Roger McGough’s magical, iconic tale of love was published in 1967 and subsequently scored and released on record with music by composer and guitarist Andy Roberts. To celebrate the 50th anniversary, the Royal Liverpool Philharmonic Orchestra’s new music group, Ensemble 10/10, will play Roberts’ original arrangements as McGough reads his epic poem as well as featuring more of his classic poetry set alongside other music.

17 June, 8.30pm
Resonant Edge Closing Party
Live set from Patchwork Rattlebag and DJ sets
