My Life: Our Big Vote

My Life: Our Big Vote follows three teenage girls as they take on one of the biggest challenges of their young lives - competing for a seat in the Scottish Youth Parliament.

Elena, Jodi and Mairi live in the small town of Coatbridge where only two seats are available in the Scottish Youth Parliament. Not only do they have to compete against each other but they are also standing against two older boys.

Just like any other election, each candidate has their own campaign plan. The film shows the teenagers speaking on stage at a series of hustings in local schools, a crucial chance to persuade their audience that they are the candidate worth voting for. They all find it incredibly nerve-wracking standing up in front of strangers and it's even more scary when they have to represent themselves in their own schools and pitch hard for votes.

By the time election night comes round emotions are running high. Has their hard work campaigning actually paid off? It's decision time for all three girls. Who will be taking their place alongside their peers to help change their country for the better?
