The Met: Policing London

Ep. 2/7 -

Filmed over the course of a year, the observational documentary series following the work of the London Metropolitan police, continues. Cameras follow Britain’s biggest and busiest police force, as they deal with life, death, crime and its victims, all across the capital.

During 2018 the murder rate in London was at its highest in over a decade. With exclusive access to detectives, and interviews with the families of the victims, this episode follows the investigation into two of these killings in the borough of Haringey, North London: the murder of 22 year-old Kobi Nelson, who was stabbed near his home in Tottenham, and the shooting of 19 year-old Kelvin Odunuyi at a cinema in Wood Green.

The two killings take place within five weeks of each other and both are handed to DCI Luke Marks from the Murder Investigation Team, whose job is not only to find the perpetrators of these violent crimes but also to investigate if the two cases are linked.

With tensions in the borough running high the Met is under pressure to address the concerns of the local community and to halt the escalating murder rate across the capital.

The narrator is Lennie James.

The Met: Policing London is produced by BBC Studios.
