Edinburgh International Festival 2019 - Queen's Hall Series

As the official broadcast partner of the Edinburgh International Festival, BBC Radio 3 brings the best of the festival to audiences at home. Throughout August, Radio 3 will broadcast a series of live concerts from 11am - 1pm on weekdays from the Queen’s Hall, Edinburgh, presented by Donald Macleod.

Wednesday - Sheku and Isata Kanneh-Mason
Siblings Sheku and Isata Kanneh-Mason return to the Edinburgh International Festival with a recital of two great cello sonatas; Mendelssohn’s passionate second sonata written for his cellist brother Paul, and Debussy’s forward-looking sonata in D written at speed during the First World War. Beethoven variations on a Mozart theme open the recital with Polish composer Lutoslawki’s single-movement work before the interval, written in memory of his close friend the musicologist Jarocinski.
