In the third round of The Family Brain Games two new families prepare to have their intellectual talents tested like never before.

Episode three: Kerr vs Riley

The fun-loving Riley family from Hampshire is hoping their team spirit will carry them through to next week’s semi-final, led by photographer mum Rachel and engineer dad Michael, ably supported by daughter and drama fan Lizzy (14), and keen problem-solver Ben (11).

Standing in their way and hoping to win the battle of the brains is the competitive Kerr family, including Oxford-educated fundraiser mum Nikki, ex-maths teacher and fellow Oxford-alumni gran Kate, and sons Sam (11), who is a reading enthusiast, and aspiring palaeontologist Ben (9).

In a competition where family matters just as much as brain matter, which team can work together to progress to the next round?
