Many of CBeebies’ most popular stars take to the stage for the highly-anticipated CBeebies Christmas Show which this year is a unique adaption of the Hans Christian Andersen tale Thumbelina.
This colourful spectacle of 60s-influenced music, dance and action-packed comedy follows the adventures of a thumb-sized girl in an oversized world of woodland creatures and giant plants as she tries to find out the truth about her identity.
Born inside a flower, Thumbelina marvels at the world around her but quickly realises she doesn’t know what, where or who she is. She has no name and is lost and alone, with only a dream to fly like a butterfly. She is drawn to the warmth and excitement of a nearby animal party where bugs, spiders, toads, and mice are celebrating the End Of Summer and Start Of Winter, but the party is not what it seems.
Can Thumbelina find the strength to stand up for herself as the animals bicker over her, and will she discover the truth about who she really is?
Katrina Bryan (Nina And The Neurons, Molly And Mack) takes the role of Thumbelina, while Justin Fletcher (Mr Tumble) stars as Mrs Toad with Phil Gallagher (Mister Maker) as her son, Barney Toad.
They are joined by Andy Day (Andy's Dinosaur Adventures) as Mr Marvellous Mole; Rebecca Keatley as Swallow; Swashbuckle's Gemma Hunt as Ladybird; with Joseph Elliott and Richard David Caine (Cook and Line) as Superfly and Psychy-Spider; Magic Hand's Aimee Campbell-Nottage as Butterfly; Ben Faulks (Mr Bloom) as Caterpillar; Maddie Moate (Do You Know?) as Ms Mouse; and CBeebies presenters Ben Cajee and Evie Pickerill taking the roles of the Fairy King and Queen.
Thumbelina premieres on BBC iPlayer on Saturday 15 December.
