Millionaires' Ex-Wives Club

Ep. 1/1 -

Gaining exclusive access to the hidden world of super-rich divorce, this intimate documentary follows ex-wives who went into battle with their exes, spending millions of pounds and years of their lives in the process.

From film maker Lynn Alleway (Camila’s Kids Company: The Inside Story; Amish: A Secret Life), the film explores some of the private battles involved in high net worth divorce cases - where the Mayfair homes, the Bentleys and yachts have to be split and hundreds of millions of pounds are at stake. With divorce law in England and Wales now dictating that the assets have to be split 50-50 as a starting point, increasingly couples are battling it out in court.

Michelle Young has clocked up 65 court hearings and 13 sets of lawyers in her crusade against her ex-husband Scot Young. And 11 years on, she hasn’t given up yet. They had two children and lived a lavish lifestyle together, but the end came in a shocking phone call: it was claimed that Scot had not only lost his entire fortune overnight in a big Russian property deal, but also had a breakdown… and was having an affair. Eventually Michelle was awarded £26m, yet to this day has never received a penny. Tragically Scot died in 2014 - and now with £17m of debts from high-interest litigation loans and legal fees, Michelle lives in a rented basement flat - but vows to fight on.

By contrast, Lisa Tchenguiz’s independent wealth helped her fund her divorce. Married for nine years to multi-millionaire Vivian Imerman, when it came to the divorce Lisa wanted a 50-50 split, and asked for £120m. But Vivian’s first offer was for £2 million - so Lisa (pictured) decided to fight.

The documentary also meets divorce lawyers on such cases, who reveal that at the very heart of these stories is an intense battle fuelled by emotion.
