British Composer Awards 2017

Sara Mohr-Pietsch and Andrew McGregor report from the British Composer Awards, celebrating the art of composition and showcasing the creative talent of contemporary composers and sound artists.

This year the nominees span 33 works across 11 categories. The work ranges from a community project exploring the refugee crisis, to a musical work exploring societal perceptions of women. The 2017 nominations underline the many ways in which composers continue to use music to engage with current affairs.
