Growing up, most millennials can easily access a variety of pornography on the internet at any time - but what effect has this had on this generation?
This Newsbeat iPlayer documentary speaks to people in their 20s with differing experiences and backgrounds to discover how porn has impacted their lives, as well as attitudes to sex and relationships. There are those who feel their addiction to porn is making them desensitised to real-life sex, others for whom porn has allowed them to explore their sexuality as well as those who feel it has changed expectations of what is “normal” in sexual relationships.
Radio 1 Newsbeat produces documentaries that shed new light on subjects and topics that are of interest and relevance to 16-24 year-olds. Other successful programmes have included Bigorexia: Never Buff Enough, Fighting In the Freezer and Where Have All The Clubs Gone?
In a radio first to be simulcast on BBC Radio 1, 1 Xtra and Radio 4’s PM programme on Monday 15 August at 5.30pm, Eddie Mair and Tina Daheley will host a live discussion with a panel of guests on how young people are being affected by easy, 24-hour access to porn, using segments from this documentary and audience interaction.
