Terry Butcher

  • Former England defender who earned over 77 caps during a ten-year international career and featured in the 1982, 1986 and 1990 World Cup
  • Over 250 appearances for Ipswich Town between 1976-86 and won the UEFA Cup in 1981 when Bobby Robson was in charge of the club
  • Also played for Glasgow Rangers, where he won the Scottish Premier Division three times and Scottish League Cup twice, and had brief spells with Coventry, Sunderland and Clydebank
  • Managed eight clubs in England, Scotland, Wales and Australia - also assistant to George Burley’s Scottish national side

Dion Dublin

  • Former centre-forward for Cambridge United, Manchester United, Coventry City, Aston Villa, Leicester City, Celtic and Norwich City
  • While at Aston Villa he was the Premier League’s joint top-scorer with 18 goals alongside Michael Owen and Chris Sutton during the 1997-98 season
  • Part of the Premier League 100 Club - having scored over 100 goals during his career in the top tier
  • Earned four caps for England, making his debut in February 1998 against Chile

Rio Ferdinand

  • Former England captain won 81 caps before retiring from international football in May 2013
  • Broke the British transfer fee record and became the world’s most expensive defender twice, firstly moving from West Ham to Leeds for £18m, and then from Leeds to Manchester United for £30m
  • At Manchester United he won the Premier League six times, the League Cup three times, and the UEFA Champions League once

Jermaine Jenas

  • Former central midfielder for Nottingham Forest, Newcastle United, Tottenham Hotspur, Aston Villa and Queens Park Rangers
  • Named PFA Young Player of the Year for the 2002-03 season at Newcastle
  • He won 21 England caps, and was part of the Three Lions’ squad at the 2006 World Cup

Martin Keown

  • Former defender for Arsenal, Aston Villa and Everton
  • He made 449 appearances during two spells at Arsenal, winning three Premier League titles, the FA Cup three times, Community Shield three times and a European Cup Winners’ Cup
  • Earned over 40 caps for England between 1992 and 2002

Kevin Kilbane

  • Former Preston North End, West Bromwich Albion, Sunderland, Everton, Wigan Athletic, Hull City, Huddersfield Town, Derby County and Coventry City player
  • Played 66 consecutive competitive international games and accrued 110 international caps
  • Made his Republic of Ireland debut in September 1997 and featured in the 2002 World Cup where his team were eliminated in the knockout stage against Spain

  • Won the World Cup in 1990 and European Championship in 1996

Frank Lampard

  • Chelsea’s all-time record goal scorer (211) between 2001-14
  • Over 600 appearances for Chelsea saw him win the Premier League three times, FA Cup four times, League Cup twice, Community Shield twice, UEFA Champions League once and UEFA Europa League once
  • Earned first cap for England in 1999 and went on to make over 100 appearances and becoming their highest-scoring midfielder of all-time.
  • Starting his career at West Ham following in his father’s footsteps, Frank went on to play for Manchester City and New York City after his glittering career at Chelsea

Mark Lawrenson

  • Started his playing career at Preston North End before signing for Brighton & Hove Albion
  • Joined Liverpool in 1981 for a then club-record transfer fee and went on to win five league titles, the FA Cup, three League Cups and the European Cup
  • Retired from football in 1992 after earning 39 caps for the Republic of Ireland 

Gary Lineker

  • Scored 48 goals for England putting him third on the all-time list, behind Sir Bobby Charlton and Wayne Rooney
  • England's top scorer in World Cup Finals with 10 goals
  • Top scorer at the 1986 World Cup with six goals, making him the only English player to win the Golden Boot award
  • Ex-England captain made 80 appearances for his country

  • Joined the BBC in 2007 and become key member of presenting team for Olympic Games, Commonwealth Games, Six Nations,  2014 World Cup and 2016 Euros
  • Current host of The Premier League Show

Jason Mohammad

  • Host of Final Score on BBC One and 606 on BBC Radio 5 Live
  • Anchor on both 2018 Commonwealth Games and 2016 Olympic Games
  • Previously played key roles for BBC Sport at European Championship and World Cup as well as Winter Olympics

Danny Murphy

  • Capped nine times for England
  • He won the treble of the League Cup, FA Cup and UEFA Cup in 2001 with Liverpool
  • He also played for Tottenham, Charlton, Fulham and Blackburn, making 417 Premier League appearances

Phil Neville

  • The current head coach of the England Women’s team made an impressive 59 appearances for the senior men’s side between 1996-2007
  • A regular in Sir Alex Ferguson’s Manchester United team, the defender played over 250 times for the Red Devils, winning the Premier League six times, FA Cup three times, Community Shield three times, UEFA Champions League once and Intercontinental Cup once
  • Joined Everton in 2005 after leaving Man Utd and went on to enjoy eight years at club appearing over 200 times

Pat Nevin

  • Played for Clyde, Chelsea, Everton, Tranmere Rovers, Kilmarnock and Motherwell
  • Won 28 caps for Scotland and was selected for the European Championships in Sweden in 1992
  • Made his final appearance for Scotland in 1996 and retired from league football in 2000

Robbie Savage

  • Made his international debut for Wales in 1995 and retired a decade later having won 39 caps
  • Former Crewe Alexandra, Leicester City, Birmingham City, Blackburn Rovers, Derby County central midfielder
  • Retired from professional football in May 2011 - now features as a pundit and commentator on Radio 5 live’s football coverage, on 606

  • Second most capped England women’s player on 140
  • Played in 2005, 2009, 2013 and 2017 UEFA Women’s Championship and 2007, 2011, 2015 FIFA Women’s World Cups

  • He earned 62 caps for England between 1985 and 1991, helping the Three Lions reach the semi-finals of the 1990 World Cup
  • He spent three successful years playing in France for Marseille

  • Familiar face on BBC as host of Football Focus and presenter of BBC Breakfast
